mermaid and manananggal mixes are rare but not unheard of in certain areas and body types vary depending on which parent's genes fight the hardest. she absolutely has a sibling who can hold their breath real good and detach their torso at will but is otherwise a normal human.

Itβs been on my dream project list to make a fake band shirt for the idea and Iβm happy to finally bring it to life for SDCC this year. Perlah, she's a maneater
Because my brain likes to think in series (who knows it might), it would be a gothic look at the Philippines in which each episode, the 'man-eating angel' named Perlah (placeholder for now), comes to haunt a particular couple and strike 'tragedy' and renewal. She's a manananggal and still does basically everything that they do in folklore, but with the added themes surrounding family, growing up, motherhood/parenthood, and a lot more, but Perlah's job is to attempt to unburden women living through strife
Pearlah's backstory is learnt throughout each episode as she goes to help these women in the dark, as it ties to her own and how she came to be, which is also my cop out way of saying "I don't know backstory fully yet, but it will come to me as I develop her."
