I apologize in advance for any potential butthurt that could result from me reviewing this particular chapter,as well as all the strong language. Because as it stands out shit finally hit the fan.
Yes this is what I wanted, a real confrontation between Sinbad and Serendine!
So after taking the very difficult decision to go ahead with the plan to start a country on Parthevian soil, which as we know came at the expense of those poor villagers, we see Sinbad making all the necessary preparations for that to take effect. Now before we continue further, it seems that there is an issue about who killed the villagers, and if Sinbad is the one who ordered such a thing. That is absolutely disgusting, to jump into conclusions like that, without having the proper translation , and when it very much looks like it was Barbarossa’s intention all along. Remember Sinbad hasn’t officially acknowledged that fact, he certainly didn’t talk it out with Barbarossa, so there is enough doubt on his side about what Sinbad really saw, and that he would have conducted the cleansing either way. Of course that doesn’t take away all of Sinbad’s guilt, since he did take the decision to abandon the villagers for the sake of his dream, but he certainly didn’t order their deaths.I wish people would think about it twice before jumping to conclusions, at any rate I prefer to wait for a more complete and accurate translation.
Sinbad is pushing himself very hard, as it turns out the STC is even more busy than usual, which worries his friends. But that’s not the only reason, he’s obviously burying himself under the pile of work in order to forget what happened with the villagers.Mystras, being the good bro that he is, decides to talk it out with him, and Sinbad tries to reassure him.And as it stands everyone in the company has been working very hard to create a new country.
So already Sinbad is stressed out and on the verge of collapsing physically, but also emotinally. Also I don’t doubt that because of the decision to not help the villagers, he feels even more obligated now to succeed in building his country in order to justify such a sacrifice.
But of course Sinbad can’t get any quarter, as Serendine seems to have something to say on the matter. The latter notices her of course, and was waiting for her to bring it up. So she has the audacity to ask him to stop building his country. The guy is working his ass off, till he’s about to collapse, and you just ask him to stop?You’re way too late,princess.
Oh but it doesn’t end there, she tells him that Barbarossa is trying to trick him, that he’s hiding something, which is true I give you that,but she doesn’t have any evidence to back it up.
She then asks him about their talk of getting married....HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Bitch what are you smoking? I bet it’s some good shit. Their talk, really?I’m sorry I literally lost it there. Nah it’s just your talk, Sinbad made no promise, he certainly didn’t give an answer to that rather inappropriate offer. Talk about being desperate....
She gets all condescending to him, about how she’s the one with royal blood, and that he can’t achieve anything without her precious royal blood yaddy yadda.She just keeps diging holes for herself.
But oh boy I love how Sinbad put her back in her place. I’m sorry but she deserves it, she walked right into it. She just made a whole scenario (or theory as Sinbad calls it) in her mind, when he doesn’t need her really. He gives the example of Barbarossa and his party who are able to rule despite not having royal blood, and that is because it’s supposed to be a government by the people for the people and all that crap.Besides he’s already engaged too far in this to simply let all that hard work go to waste
She desperately tries to convince by telling him that Barbs can’t be trusted, that he’s using him, only for him to put the final nail on the coffin of her expectations, by saying that if she wants to take back her country so badly then she should do it herself. He never said anything about taking back Parthevia, and instead that he just wants to get rid of the backward stuff in the world, And that he already chose his path and that no one has the right to tell him anything about it, which sounds arrogant, but he’s in his own right.
Yes, yes, go my Sinbad! Finish her!
Also isn’t she also trying to use Sinbad? I like how hypocritical she is about it, she made that whole offer just to take her country back, and now she’s literally controlling Sinbad with Zepar. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
He finishes by telling her that is she wants revenge so badly, she’ll have to do it herself.
It’s so damn satisfying to finally see Sinbad put her back in her place, she’s just a spoiled princess who thinks that everything is owed to her, that Sinbad has to marry her and no matter how you see it, she also wants to use him same as Barbarossa in order to achieve her goals.Even if we argue that Sinbad is in the wrong, he already made huge sacrifices to reach that point.EVERYONE HAS. He simply cannot back down, and his own wishes are what matter, not hers. Sinbad never wished to take back Parthevia, the latter is already backwards and part of the old world that Sinbad despises so much. As such he cannot hope to change the world using the very thing that he despises.
Her characterization is a mess to say the least, even now she’s trying to make it look like as if she wanted Sinbad to use her, which not only comes off as desperate (especially if we consider her romantic disposition) but is also pretty damn untrue.The reality is she had no business to do with him in the first place, and if anyone tries to refute that fact, then this should clear any misconceptions about that. They have completely different views, not just that but they also have completely different goals. There was no point where their goals met, to me it is very doubtful that Sinbad would have achieved what he wanted if he accepted her offer.I simply don’t believe he would have been able to change the whole world had he accepted to marry her because he would be perpetuating the very thing that he wants to get rid off.And she should have relied on her own strength, and as I mentioned in an ask, create her own company from scratch, instead of relying on someone else. This kind of characterization just comes off as nonsensical and lazy.
Now it looks like Seren is completely backed into a corner, and she has no choice but to use her new power to take back the throne, which can only spell her own doom, and potentially that of Sin and co, oh boy.
And of course Judal is hearing all this, so that little devil must be pretty damn satisfied that he managed to trick and isolate Serendine.
No matter how you look at it, these two would have gone different ways anyway, now it’s done, but at what expense? The next chapters should show us the effect of Serendine’s decision, and what it really entails.
