hey!!! I saw your post about going to an academic conference and I kind of want to ask bc I'm about to go to one at American university (in DC too!!!) tomorrow and I'm kind of scared? I'm excited to get the academic experience but I have bad social anxiety and am wondering how it's going with you?
hey!!honestly the best thing i can tell u for this kind of thing is just to be open minded. at mine ppl from all over the world are represented and i was a little afraid and intimidated @ first (everyone there is older than me, most of them r 17 and one guy from st vincent was like. nominated to come by his PRIME MINISTER wow) BUT the cool thing is just. hanging out with people from so many different places and cultures. also everyone is super sweet bc no one knows anyone else. also the academic experience is the SHIT the level of brainpower at these things is wonderful to be aroundfor me it's going rly well and ive made a lot of good new friends n friend groups. lots of squad pics. bottom line: don't worry abt fitting in or being super social or anything, just have fun and enjoy being there :+)
