Time had lost sense of meaning.  Be it for one reason or the other, Edward had not been able to rouse himself enough out of this weakened stupor to figure out his surroundings more than by feel.  He could feel sweat upon him, then suffer as it sent to chills.  It was the Mists, or some vile hells that had finally gotten their claim on the Butcher, leaving him to suffer for all eternity.   Yet it would not always be so.  Be it minutes, hours, or days from when darkness enclosed, the Butcher’s eyes finally fluttered open to take in the light of the sun, or what atleast passed for it in the desolation.  It was not a romantic scenario to say the least, but it gave him direction, and finally confirmed what he had been praying for.  He was indeed alive.  Hands searched for purchase, but it wasn’t until he pushed upwards that he felt the aches through his body.  It was as if he had taken a direct blow from his own hammer.  Nothing felt broke, some how, yet nothing felt as if it were in the right place.  “Where..what?”  Looking up, he saw nothing but stone.  The same went for the left and right, yet forward looked like the mouth of some cliff side cave.  “How..”  He said before he shifted his hand in what felt like twigs and feather.   Within a moment, he recognized this to be a nest of some great size.  In it, the remains of hatched eggs gave clues to something larger than your average bird.  Confusion at the situation only compounded as he looked beyond to a long dead corpse.  The words did not come.  Even an outsider understood the garb of a sunspear, though it appeared to him as if this rotted flesh had been at it for some time.  Licking his impossibly dry lips, he attempted to sit himself up a little straighter.  On the ground next to it was a leather bound book of some sort, yet as he reached for it, a screech, and a great flap of wings outside gave him pause, eyes jerking to the opening to watch a massive shadow cast over the door.
