Never have I so badly wanted the protagonist of a horror movie to die so horribly than I did in Obsession, lol.

Good movie but hard watch. A constant feeling of, like, secondhand cringe. It really did a good job of digging fingers deep into controlling/abusive mentalities and how they twist reality.

Clever ending, too, imo.

God im so furious at liam!! Like yes people expected you not to work for a while because you had a baby, babies require work!!!! Taking care of a child isnt sitting at home being lazy!!! So now not only has he fucked off and left cheryl alone to raise their child, he's also discounting ALL the work she's putting in as "being lazy". And acting like he's the one making sacrifices, not seeing any importance in being there for his child, talking about what he's "building" for bear, its nonsense!

I mean it is nonsense, but it’s nonsense that makes a lot of sense with the way society is structured.

I don’t think he thinks Cheryl is being lazy - he’s acknowledged the work she is doing. I think by saying that he would be lazy, he’s instead showing that he can’t imagine himself doing the caring work of looking after a child, because he’s a man.

He is repeating toxic ideas about masculinity because he really believes him - and that’s what I find sad.

Also as a bit of a side note - I don’t think it’s useful to have specific expectations about how couples deal with paid work in the aftermath of a baby. I don’t think any good comes of treating that as a decision that is up to public vote.
