This is a short story I wrote based on a prompt by @writing-prompt-s
Prompt :
Many think that your power is the strongest in all the lands. “An ever changing and growing power” they say. Your power is called “legacy” and it’s effects are based on what your opponent thinks it does.
Story :
Everyone in the world has a power. Some are strong, some smart, some have art as a power. The people with the more major and hardcore powers rule.
I discovered my power very recently.
All my friends had found their powers and were working on making them better. I on the other hand had no idea. So, I asked my friend what he thought my power was. "You seem like someone who has baking skills or something like that." I took it as a good natured jab and laughed it off. Later that day, I decided I wanted to bake for my mum's birthday. I had never baked a thing in my life before. I didn't even have a proper recipe. But the cake turned out to be perfect. My friends words came back to me. I decided to make sure that this was my power. I decided to make cookies. No recipe. Just my intuition. And trust me I tried my best to mess it up. But they turned out to be the best cookies I had ever had. I was frustrated at the fact that I had *baking* as a power! It was such a useless power!
I decided not to tell anyone.
Few days passed. I went to a party with my friend. He introduced me to a couple of new people and we decided to play "Guess The Power" game. When it was someone's turn to guess my power, she said " You seem like a water-bender type of guy." Then the sensation hit me. I could feel every drop of water in the room. In the glasses, the pipes overhead. Every. Single. Drop.
"So, was I right? Are you a water bender?"
"I- I haven't figured out my power yet."
"Oh. That's fine. Let's move on shall we!"
I was so confused. How did this happen? I was so sure that baking was my power?
It took a few seconds, but I realised my power. It was Legacy. I had only ever read of it in books. It gives you the power that the other person believes you have. A slow smile spread on my face. This is going to be amazing.
