Attack On Titan/Star Trek-crossover | [oftwo-worlds]
The screams, the noises of destruction and pain, were once more echoing in the distance as the weak rays of lights were shining through the gaps between the calmly waving curtains, the room was otherwise silent, but Jim's head was full of sounds and life as he was still dreaming. It was morning, but the boy hadn't gotten up yet. He lied still in his bed, his eyes moving rapidly in his sleep til he suddenly opened them and sat up.
"Father-!" a muffled gasp came out, leaving Jim breathless for a brief moment as he stared at the empty space between the end of his bed and the partly-open window. There was nothing there. The screams and shouts had faded completely. Just another dream, again.
Soon after he stood up from the bed, his blonde hair messy and his white shirt wrinkled after sleeping for so long. His mother was probably waiting already downstairs. Jim walked to the closest pieces of clothing he could see in his room, pulling on his brown trousers and a grey outer shirt, he would find his leathery jacket at the door when he'd go out. He only had time to simply ruffle his hair a bit before rushing downstairs, the house was silent, but he knew someone else had already woken up. He headed straight to the kitchen, seeing a silhouette of a man sitting by the table with a paper in his hand. "It seems they're once again starting to look for new cadets to join the trainee corps", a voice commented before the man took a sip from his cup. Jim knew it was about the Starfleet's notification. They had been spreading those notes all around the place, especially after the breaking of Wall Maria...
"Yeah", Jim replied simply to his stepfather as he went to drink a cup of tea before he would leave. He hadn't talked about his will to join the corps someday, more or less scared of his 'family's' reaction. But it was still his choice, kind of. He got to decide if he'd join or not. "I'm heading out", the boy announced after quickly finishing the tea. "Your mother's at the market by now, be back for dinner", his stepfather replied without even glancing at him. "Okay", Jim nodded, then walking to the door where his jacket was waiting for him. It was an old jacket made of leather, but it was his favourite.
And if he wasn't completely wrong, it was the day the corps would start taking in and testing their new cadet candidates, and Jim thought that he might pay a visit there.
