Let's talk about this recent post from celluloidbroomcloset:
I'm specifically discussing that last line, a sentiment cbc has expressed in the past.
I'm not sure if cbc is able-bodied or not. I hope they are. But whatever the situation, arguing that an already disabled character deserves to be more disabled is profoundly ableist.
Disability is not a punishment. It's not a gag or a punchline. It's not a quirky way to mock someone you dislike or win a fandom argument.
Those of us with mobility impairments are not less than anyone else, and the things that have happened to us aren't a fucking joke.
To be clear: cbc has been told this before, by multiple different people with disabilities. They do not care. They will continue to make these jokes because winning fandom points matters more to them than respecting the disabled members of the fandom community.
