    “ lapis! ”   there was a hint of definite happiness in steven’s voice as he lifted his hand to give lapis a small wave, a smile playing at his lips. after everything that had happened lately, both he and the gems had all been.. very focused on his mental health, and that usually meant he got the chance to just spend time with his friends.. no work involved. 

   his therapist had said interpersonal relationships were very important, and spending time with the people you cared about was crucial. so, steven was ready to have some beach summer fun with lapis --- who else? he jogged forward, wrapping his arms around her waist in a tight hug.

Belle had had enough. She'd been about to leave him one before, but every single time Rumpelstiltskin seemed to know exactly how to pull her back in. What to say, what to do, the look to give her. Anything for her think maybe he's changed, maybe we can have a chance. But finally, the last crack in the glass shattered any sort of hope she had for them in the future. He'd lied. Again. She should have known, when she realized he'd proposed to her based on a lie. A horrible lie. Everything was based on a lie from then on. He never deserved that last chance she'd given him. She was done. And now it was time to make things right.

She'd left Rumple after telling him exactly what she thought of his most recent actions. She'd made it clear she was done, though she knew he was hoping she'd come back after cooling down. She wouldn't. Instead she sought out the man who'd dealt with her through everything. He'd been there when she needed a friend and she'd never given him the chance he deserved because of the way Rumple had wormed himself into her mind.
