Criminal adjusted his jacket with a shrug, head ominously tilting as he listened to the other. He had a reputation. Of course he did. As time passed and he got less caring about his publicized, he had always known his targets were rather big names. Giving a nod to the man standing before him, he shifted his feet and looked at him. ❛❛ Not possible. Not me you've seen. Leaves behind too much evidence. Name's Ruv. ❜
What was he going to do? When faced with a known killer, was he going to run?

❝ Its just, well, you see, I think everything’s terrible anyhow. ❞
“Aw c’mon Sammy, not everything’s terrible!”
Even as she said it, she wasn’t a hundred percent convinced of that herself. Everything did feel pretty terrible most of the time. But still, there were some good things, she just had to remind herself- and Sammy too, apparently.
“There’s plenty of good things happening all the time! I mean look at us, we’re practically makin’ miracles here, isn’t that amazing?”
Henry’s not much of a singer. That much is clear in his choice of careers: animation over music making. But even so, it’s still hard to resist singing--or perhaps mumbling--the words to a song that’s playing on the radio as he works on the latest frame. It helps keep things running, for him, a little smoother.
“ Good authors, too,
Who once knew better words
Now only use four letter words
Writing prose:
Anything Goes... ”
🎼 “So close to getting in my head, all of the dirty words you said. As lies would overflow and drown me out of breath. But still, I held on to the edge.”
It wasn’t every day that Hope had a free period, during the day, but today was special. Another student busted another hole in one of the walls and extra teachers were called to settle the situation that made it happen. One of those teachers was her own, leaving her with no one in the private classroom.
Of course she was going to use it to practice her heavy-accented English, and use one of her methods of keeping steady as she practiced her talent. With herself floating in midair, she sings along to a tune playing on her also floating phone.
🎼 “So go ahead and talk the talk, cause I’ll be watching as you dro~op. I’ll soar up to the sky as you watch me from below! Fate’s on my side and it will show! Ooo, I never believed in superstitions! Ooo, but I know its in my intuition! I won’t take your bait, no need to make you pay, cause karma’s gonna help me any way- Watch out! Karma’s what you make~!”
Thankfully the door was only open a crack. If it had been open the Ultimate Telekinetic would have been too scared to use her talent... That and what else was a student supposed to do when left alone in a classroom?

It’s officially that point in the work cycle, for Buddy at least, where he’s starting to lose track of how long it’s been ever since he started working at the studio. Time without making a delivery is spent making certain drawings, and the time while acting as a gopher is...well, spent mapping out the studio.
This is the music department, after all. So where’s the office...?
“ Augh--! ”
Before he has the chance to slow down and actually look around, though, Buddy just so perfectly manages to trip over his own FEET, and lands against the ground with a unceremonious thud. Well. At least the papers are fine.

⚜️ ) —- What could it have been that drew her to this place? An abandoned house of darkness, riddled with creatures of the damned who all bathed in it. Would desperation have lead her to seek shelter here? Had she sensed something vital: power -- perhaps? Surely, she would trust herself not to stray from her own path for a mere cry of pain or a call for help -- as cruel as it would be.
Whatever the answer - whatever her reasoning prior, both become lost, fleeting past her alongside the wooden walls she gallops past. What could it matter to her now, anyway? She remains running for her life all the same.
How surprised was she to come across another in the lonely, darkened halls, & one of sound mind-- or sound enough not to attack immediately, at that; yet his weapon is noted straight away. How surprising yet, to find someone so likeminded, as the notion of Gods had somehow been mentioned & there, idle chatter had sparked betwixt them.
How foolish was she, to think for a moment that he might not be a threat.
How foolish was she, to think their talking might keep that axe of his glued to his side.
Sour notes spoken; an incredible rage. Threatening, a weapon towers; a puny dagger jabs & misses. Scrambling feet, she turns away; her side is forced open with a mighty heave & the scream of a man scorned.
Those screams continue, just as thunderous & agonized as when she’d last been in the room with him, ringing through the endless corridors she sprints down - not far behind. Her own silent curses & the pleading of salvation her people cry out punish a mind already wracked with regret. Such hurts worse than the gifted gash undoubtedly dripping soul unto the floor, marring perfect inky black stains & leading Death to her quicker. & the studio would mercilessly continue to sing her location with every creaking floorboard, every puddle’s splash, every echoing heaving breath she emits - begging for the heavens to save her.
& as though her prayer was acknowledged, she would happen upon a fork in the road, passages harboring large hallways with walls that cut off sight into them until traversed. It wasn’t much, but enough. Noticing that Death’s yells were slightly quieter -- a bit farther away, the Seeker had taken the opportunity to duck into a hall & momentarily catch her breath. It’s barely a hiding spot & he’s nowhere out of earshot, in reaching the start of the three pathways - all he would have to do is turn his head & Death would embrace her swiftly. She only responds with a muffled sob, as well realizing that she couldn’t run for much longer. Pain swells within her lungs with each breath, her body & legs ache, the stillness allows for her wound to feel unbearable, defiled with sweat & ink.
She begs forgiveness from her tribe, tears pouring from her eyes.
Death’s chime grows present & creeps down the hall, sending a new rush of fear into the Seeker. He prowls like a hunter eager to catch its prey, her spilled soul his righteousness. Gulping down her voice & wheezing silent prayers, she presses herself against the wall, as much as her back would allow. Hidden from sight perhaps, but she thoroughly believes she can still be heard.
Death’s steps draw closer, quicker - confirming her suspicions. Instinctually, she grabs her dagger from her side with unsteady claws. A thirst to survive competes with her terror, nearly choking her. Death’s shadow envelops the floor, his axe following just beside. A strangled whine out of her pierces the air.
He turns & fills her vision.
She lunges & her claw fills his.
A sudden SLASH sends his head backward, a damaged mask & weapon thrown across the floor as his body topples down with them. He cries out, grasping for his face & squirming helplessly to grab his axe. The bug’s heart leaps into her throat, marvelling at the man’s prompt fall, almost stunned by what she’s done.
Almost. She doesn’t dawdle.
Descending unto him, her foot stamps hard into his middle in throwing her weight against him. Dagger equipped, it too descends - haphazardly into his chest. Bloodcurdling shrieks confirm it a tactic that works. Upward, the dagger is lifted; downward, with all the might she can give - it descends.
Again. Death begs for the Lord to save him.
Again. Ink splatters across her body.
Again. Death promises the Lord everything he has for his life.
Again. The heavens assure the Seeker she’s been saved.
Again. Death’s cries grow gurgled.
Again. Her fenestras lead to nothingness, filled with him but her eyes are empty.
Again. Death’s form begins to lose its shape.
Again. Silence begins to overwhelm them both.
Again.
Again.
Again.
& again.
Until her dagger sinks into nothing but warped wood, & she sits atop but a black puddle that stains her form. By her, yellowed clothes void of a body begin to soak into the darkness. & yet she remains, merely stained. She had made it - she must have; Death whom had chased her down these halls struggles no more beneath her, his form lost, melted away. & though his parting gift an ugly wound, she could feel - it was not mortal. She had made it. Yet, she still glares into the liquid darkness, carefully observing for any unnatural twitch or indication he would rise again, but as the ink begins to still beneath her - all she sees is her reflection.
Choking back another sob, her trembling body deflates from her stiff defense. The console of her people replace the screams that had once filled the air & further reassure her that she had made it. They had made it. Eyes finally blur & allow tears to flood them until she can barely see, --until the room is a haze of color & shapes become unrecognizable.
All except one.
Death’s grinning mask, sitting there -- taunting her. Until it too, would fade with the room, split apart with one strike of her dagger.
