Immediately after Halloween comes the Mexican holiday of Dia de los Muertos. Day of the Dead. Many bigger celebrations were cancelled here this year. But some local shops have offrendas set up to honor deceased loved ones of their workers. For most people this is a family holiday. So we spend some time at home and watched Coco. ♥️ . . . . . #ouroffbeatlife #offrenda #dayofthedead #diademuertos #diadelosmuertos #remember #memories #rivieramaya #mexico #mexico🇲🇽 #méxico #mexicomagico #playadelcarmen (at Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVy9BxBrs15/?utm_medium=tumblr
My offrenda...Dia de los Muertos
A Prayer For Departed Loved Ones:
O Almighty God, Who by the love which You have for men, have willed to take our humanity, to live a life of hard work, to suffer a most cruel Passion, and finally to die on the Cross, I beseech You, by the infinite merits purchased for us with Your Precious Blood, look mercifully on the suffering which is endured by the holy souls in Purgatory. Accept, O merciful God, the prayers which I offer for them, and call them to the glory of heaven. I recommend to You the souls of my relatives, friends, and benefactors, and in a special manner of those to whom I may have been an occasion of sin by my bad example.
Most Holy Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Comforter of the Afflicted, intercede for those souls, that, by your powerful intercession, they may be admitted to enjoy that kingdom which is prepared for them. Amen.

On the first of November, we celebrate los muertitos chiquitos, our little dead. Children's altars are decorated with white flowers and candles to show their purity. The altars are filled with candies and toys, and colored in bright colors, just like the sugar skulls, so the children can play with the living. One of the principle parts to a childs alatar is the dog, Ixcuintla, which helps the child cross the Chiconauhuapan river, which is the last step children must take before entering paradise. The offerings and sweet bread must be made to size for the children because they may get mad and not eat the offerings. The niñitos muertitos arrive late in the night on October the 31, and at 8 in the morning, we can start offering them breakfast. At noon, as soon as the church belle begin to play, the muertos niños say their goodbyes and the white flowers can be replaced with the yellow cempasúchil, for the altars for adults. At the “hora del campanero”, or "hour of the bellman", or 7 pm, families arrive with their own bells and visit the altars of neighbors and friends; singing songs and saying prayers and offering their own pan de muerto and candies, or fruit, or even donate money and candles for the forgotten souls. Children with no altars. #dayofthedead #diadelosmuertos #offrenda https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpr-LTLjV59/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1608s1dr5dx85
