Natasha steps out into the dark and immediately shivers. She should have brought her shawl with her but she doesn’t want to go back, not now she’s here. It’s quiet outside, the hubbub of the party locked behind walls and doors and heavy stage curtains behind her, and she takes a moment to revel in the lack of sound, taking a deep breath of cool night air and letting it out slowly. Then she walks towards the balustrade, her heels clicking against the marble flooring, and leans out into the dark. “Shit, Barnes,” comes an amused voice away to her right, “we’re rumbled.” Natasha whirls in surprise to find – of course – Clint and James standing in a pool of light spilling across the balcony from inside.
