If you asked TJ how he ended up on his exโs porch, soaked to the bone from the pouring rain outside, he wouldnโt be able to tell you. Things with Alice had started out fun. She was his dream girl in every sense of the word. She was fun, she made him laugh, she cared for him more than anyone, and she was certainly a god damn vision. It took awhile for TJ to even come to terms with labeling her as his โgirlfriendโ, but he had even done that. Heโd slowly taken steps in all the right directions. He was trying - and he so desperately wanted to be serious about her. The only problem was the more serious it got, the further TJ pulled back. It was just before their one year anniversary when TJ decided it was too much. All of it was too much. The pressure of being in love and the severity of what that word meant in a relationship. The fear that heโd only fuck it up down the line, so why not make it easier in the long run? So he left one morning before she woke up, and that was that. Not a call or a text or a note. He left town without a word and didnโt look back.
Until now. Three months later and his father finally forced him to come back home. It was the downfall of having chosen to live of his fatherโs fortune instead of making something of himself. Being home brought back floods of feelings for her. It had only been three days and all he can think about is her. But he canโt call. He canโt text. He canโt just barge back into her life like he didnโt up and leave her with no explanation. He was frustrated with himself more than anything, and that was exactly how he ended up going out for a walk to clear his head. Except he just kept walking, and then it started to rain, and then the next thing he knew he was standing in front of her home.
He stood outside for a long while, debating with himself if he was actually going to go knock on her door. Finally, TJ huffed and jogged up to the porch. His arms wrapped around himself, the cold rain finally getting to him now that he was underneath the safety of her porch. He sighed, and simply reached forward, knocking on the door.
