akilah hasn't recovered from what happened on their attempt at an exit, her mind still racing every moment of the day as she starts to dread their surroundings more and more, worried that an exit doesn't exist at all. the plane seems dangerous, it seems like a really, really bad idea -- but there's hope in laura lee, and if akilah has any optimism left, she's pouring it all into her.
her hands reach out, grabbing both of laura lee's gently and holding them between them, offering a small smile that has felt impossible these past few months, but even more these past few days, because if anyone needs it, it's @ofaither. ❝ i'm really proud of you. ❞ she doesn't look back to the plane they've been working on, only at laura lee, because she remembers what it felt like when they thought they lost van, and if this goes wrong, that means losing laura lee, too, so she wants to remember her, wants to soak up every last moment she has with her before she the plane is done and it's time to really say goodbye. ❝ can i say that i really don't want to say goodbye? ❞ she admits, her nose scrunching up before she shakes her head. ❝ because i don't. i can't imagine this horrible place without you being here to make it better. but you're going to come back, ❞ she insists, shaking her hands lightly, unclear who she's trying to convince more. ❝ and nobody is as brave as you, laura lee. ❞
