I thought about how I’m going to be married in a few months today, & I cried. I mostly cried because of how much I love my fiancé, & how much it actually frightens me to realise that I’m about to embark on a journey of love unlike any other I’ve experienced. Marriage is not a joke. It’s a holy sacrament, & it has nothing to do with what is demanded of a boyfriend & girlfriend, & with every step that I take I am being reminded of that more & more. It’s truly a union of souls & a joining of hearts like I’ve always coveted but never seen. Most of all, I thought about all of the women before me & the women currently making this walk, & I mourned for them. I mourned for the ways that they too have had to sacrifice, forgive, understand, & finally, submit. And I do not mean mourn in a bitter, or even negative sense. It is a mourning that tears the heart open to let it new beginning, because I know that like myself, they too have died & been born from this. I understood why every time I mentioned the word submission in regards to women in my writings, it triggered so many, & left a sour taste in their mouths. The walk of women is never easy, & what we go through being the emotional sex? Only God can ever know. Today, I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate & honour every single woman I have ever met, & the ones I am yet to know. God truly chose us to do the unthinkable.
