The night had just begun, and Sam couldnât have been more exhilarated. She had never lied to her parents (at least, not on this level), never been to a real concert, much less been invited to get hot dogs with the band.
And, from all this, Sam was shivering with excitement.
The boy beside her â Reggie, as he so charmingly introduced himself just a few minutes ago â tapped his fingers to her wrist. âYou look cold. Here, take my jacket.â
âOh.â The fabric was already placed over Samâs shoulders before she could argue. She noticed the faint blush that spread over Reggieâs cheeks, how he held her gaze just a moment longer than necessary. And after swallowing the lump in her throat, Sam let out her infamous nervous laughter. âUm, thanks.â
His soft smile and slight nod was enough to veer Sam over the edge.
He did not just do that. He did not just do that!
But he did just do that, and she was now tugging his jacket tighter to her frame, not even bothered by the smell of sweat and cheap cologne. A cute boy had just given her his jacket. A cute boy in a band had just given her his jacket.
This night was more than she could ever imagine. It was so perfect, so strange, so intoxicating.
She hoped it would never end.
âReggie, quit flirting and get your hot dog!â The lead singer, Luke, called, making Reggieâs cheeks blossom even more blush than before.
âRight, I should â get myâŚyeah. Iâll get you one too?â
Sam only nodded, almost positive that her own face was as red as his.
She watched him jog up to the other boys, who stood near the hotdog stand. Sam couldnât care less that the âhotdog standâ was merely being operated out of someoneâs trunk â all she cared about was the fact that she was here at all. At a concert. With a band. Wearing a band memberâs leather jacket over her shivering shoulders.
Reggie turned around, two hot dogs in hand, sending her a wide smile. Sam nearly swooned.
He was so cute, she could just die.

Another night out was ending with a trek into the woods to dispose of a body. Gwen shouldnât have been surprised. Lately, it didnât feel like they could do anything fun without it ending in a disaster. Sheâd been naive to think the Lockwoodsâ winter party would have had a different conclusion, especially with Katherine Pierce back in town. Gwen watched as Damon and Tyler let the body of the offending werewolf drop in to the freshly made grave with a heavy thud.
Turning to her, Tyler said, âAll right do your magic.â
âWhatcha doin Bobby?â Alex asked, looking over his shoulder. He had a text, but before she could read the contents, he pulled it away.
âHey no peeking! Personal space!â
âSince when do you care about personal space?â
âSince now.â
Alex could tell he was lying, so she apologized and when Bobby let his guard down, she pulled the phone into her hand.
âWhyâd you hide this from me?â She asked, only seeing the whereabouts of a man named John Allerdyce.
âYou uh, you used to be in love with him, I think, before everything. I didnât want you to go through that again.â Bobby explained, looking down at his shoes. Alex lightly squeezed his shoulder, giving him a small smile when he looked up.
âYou know, seeing him might shake a few memories loose.â Bobby pointed out, this time keeping eye contact. Alex nodded.
âDo you like this guy? You donât seem too excited at the prospect of seeing him.â Alex asked, crossing her arms.
âJohn and I had a complicated relationship and I am not thrilled at the idea of seeing him, but if he sparks something itâll be worth it!â Bobby explained. Alex noticed hope was back in his eyes. She smiled at him, but knew this was a dead end too. The girl Bobby knew was dead, but she couldnât be the one to tell him that.
âYou want me to come in with you?â Bobby asked, drumming on the steering wheel. Alex took a look at the motel they were outside of and shook her head. She took a deep breath and unhooked her seatbelt before releasing it.
âItâs room number again?â
â47â
Alex walked down the hallway, staring at the carpet pattern. It was loopy and staring at it made Alex nauseous.
She knocked, and waited. After a minute she thought no one was coming, when he answered. He opened the door and his eyes went wide when he saw her. Her stomach flipped but Alex couldnât tell if it was a good or a bad thing. He reached out a hand, but halfway through decided not to.
âItâs been awhile.â John said, eyes moving to see what had changed.
âHas it?â
âI saw you that day, at Alcatraz. Figured youâd still be mad about alkali lake.â
âOh,â Alex said, with a look of sympathy.
âOh?â
âI uh, died at alkali, apparently. Then taken back by weapon x and wiped. I donât really remember much of Alcatraz even.â Alex explained, watching John.
âSo, you donât remember me?â He asked, shifting his position and opening the door more.
âNope, I donât remember anybody. Bobbyâs been helping me try but nothing has worked yet, he uh thought that seeing you might shake something lose.â
âDoes it?â
âWell, you look familiar, but in the that everybody who knew me does.â
John nodded and the pair stood there, staring at eachother. Alex started to leave, but turned back quickly and blurted out âBobby said he thought we were in love, was he right?â
John didnât say anything and Alex thought he was going to slam the door in her face, but instead he plainly said âNo, we didnât have enough time.â
Neither of them said anything, Alex slowly turned and walked down the hallway, ignoring the carpet.
John watched her leave and just before she disappeared down the hallway he whispered âI love you.â
December 9th: âI mean, I knew you had Christmas spirit, but this is ridiculous.â
Wren Murphy and the (Tenth) Doctor âMurphyâs Law
Wren could barely believe it when the Doctor told her Christmas Eve was in three days. Time was relative in the TARDIS; hours faded into days and days into weeks. It was a surprise that a year had yet to go by though, and it was harder to admit that, technically speaking, it had been years for her and only one for Martha and the Doctor.
She toyed with the phone in her hands, thumb hovering over Marthaâs name. To call or to not call? Who knew how long had passed since the last time they saw each other. As much as she hated agreeing with the Doctor, it wasnât always his fault when times went non-linear. The TARDIS, in all her infinite knowledge, was the one to choose the when and where of events. And truly, Wren wasnât up to another shouting match with the time machine.
Sighing, she pocketed the phone, pointedly ignoring the clanging of her gauntlet against it. Her early Christmas present, she thought with mild disdain.
The hallways were dimly lit when she left her room. No sound other than the barely-there hum of the TARDIS filled the space. She could remember Marthaâs words when the young doctor had officially joined their crew of two: âBut hear me out. If you listenâtruly listenâit sounds almost like singing.â
A singing TARDIS. The Master had said the same. Jack confessed it was the only clue heâd had to find the Doctor. But when Wren tried to focus, all she got was the sensation that someone had poured water in her ears.Â
They werenât wrong though. Sometimes, when she was sleeping, she thought she could hear the song too. A melody that was meant for her and only her.
The silence was soon replaced by the echo of Elvis Presleyâs low baritone. The nearer she got to the console room the more his voice took form. The lyrics of Here Comes Santa Claus blared at full capacity from the ceiling. The time rotor, she noted, was lit up like a Christmas tree, sparks blowing from underneath. A mop of hair moved back and forthâthe Doctor bobbing to the King of Rockâs rhythm.Â
Wren peered down at the grate. The Doctor had lost his overcoat and jacket and had rolled up the sleeves of his dress shirt, revealing that, for once, heâd opted to wear protective gloves. They matched the goggles over his eyes.
He was humming. Separate words sprung forth from his lips at odd intervals. If Wren werenât a fan of Elvis, she wouldâve chalked it up to the madness that was him.Â
âWatcha doing?â she asked, crouching.
The blowtorch he was holding went out. Somehow, something clanged below him.Â
âWhat?â he shouted.Â
âWhat. Are. You. Doing?â she yelledâthen shot upward and pushed the button under the monitor.Â
The song was cut short.
âWhat are you doing?â she asked again, with all the impatience she could muster. It wasnât that much but she liked seeing him flounder. When he opened his mouth, she added, âAnd donât give me the long version, my migraine wonât stand it.â
His teeth clicked into a pout. âWell, if it isnât Miss Scrooge. I thought the nap was supposed to take care of that.â
She rubbed her eyes, avoiding the bags underneath.Â
âI wasnât in the mood,â she said shortly. âPlease tell me it isnât going to get us blown.â
âWellâŚâ He jumped to her level, shutting the grate close with his foot. He took off the gloves but left the goggles âIt wonât if we donât collide with Asteroid Five anytime soon.â Then he grinned. âHere!â
He seized her hand, pulling her away from the console and toward the lower level close to the wall, going around the main jumpseatâthen stopped short, muttering, âNo, no, no, the other way,â and hauled her back to the doorway leading to the rest of the TARDIS.
âDoctor,â she sighed.
âShh! Donât say anything.â He put his hands on her shoulders and swayed her gently from side to side, his forehead scrunching up in thought as he considered her. âA little bit to the left⌠there! Now put on these.â
He shoved into her hands a different pair of goggles, prettier than his and thankfully not grimy.Â
She didnât put them on right away. âWhy?â At his raised eyebrows, she relented.
âI was thinkingâWren hasnât seen a Tandalorian Christmas tree, and odds are sheâll never do because Tandalor still hasnât given up the idea of starting civil wars for every unsolved transgressionâso I decided to build you one!âÂ
Then he jumped to her side with his hands in his pockets, his wide grin proud.
âA Tandalorian tree,â she repeated flatly. âAnd where is it?â
âWell,â he stretched the word, âI had to improvise a little.â
âIs that why we are standing on the other side of the room? In case it explodes?â
He bobbed his head. âPretty much, yeah. That, and I donât want to burn this suit. The new one still hasnât arrived at the shop.â The Doctor turned to her. Soon a scowl marred his features. âOh, come on, WrenâI promise nothing will go boom.âÂ
Wren hated it that he could read her so well.Â
âTick, tock, tick tock,â he muttered. âBetter make up your mind before we pick up that little gremlin of yours.â
âKeep speaking like that and she will eat after midnight to spite you.â Wrenâs mouth formed a tight line. âFine. Letâs see the fake Tandalorian tree.â
âBrilliant! Hands to the sides. Goggles in place. And if your eyes sting, close them.â
Before Wren could argueâbecause what did he mean they would sting, that wasnât normal at allâthe Doctor raised his hand, revealing a tiny remote.Â
âBehold!â
He pressed the button.
The lights in the TARDIS went out.
There was a beat while both tried to get their bearings.
âThis isnât supposed to happen, is it?â Wren said.Â
âNot at all,â the Doctor agreed.
She was going to strangle him.Â
âIâm going.â
âWrenââ
âDoctor, Iâm really tired. I havenât slept well in days. And I get this is your way of cheering me up, butâI mean, I knew you had a Christmas spirit but this is ridiculous.â She tried to find him but it was impossible in the darkness. âIâm sorry.â
Wren made to leaveâbut his hand pulled her back to his side.Â
âDoctorâŚâ
He gently led her to the console and Wren realized it wasnât truly dark. Upon spotting the trail of gold dust leading to the time rotor, she took off the goggles. When they stood in front of it, she saw the Doctor had pulled off his own too; underneath the soot, he looked as grim as the day the Master became Prime Minister.Â
The time rotor cast a certainly intimate glow. Blue and golden light sparkled all over it like constellations, and these reflected on their skin brilliantly, as if they were made of stars. Wren was so busy admiring its effect on the Doctor that she jumped when he spoke.Â
âThe first time you saw Tandalor, you wept. I thought Iâd overlooked something, hurt you in some wayâbut no. You cried because you found it beautiful and it moved you. You liked the Christmas trees the most: couldnât stop babbling about them all the way back. And now you donât remember.â
Wrenâs chest tightened.Â
Another moment lost. Of course, the Doctor would want to jog her memories with what sounded like the most extraordinary experienceâbut it wasnât enough.Â
His eyes glistened. âIâm sorry, Wren. Iâm so sorry.âÂ
âWe could go back,â Wren suggested.Â
He shook his head in grim amusement. âWonât be the same.â
âIt doesnât have to be,â she whispered, tightening her grip in his hand. He leaned back slightly as if surprised by her touchâeven when heâd been the one to start the hand-holding. âLetâs make something new. Something that neither of us will ever forget.â
The Doctor peered at her face closely. She didnât know what he saw but it made him relax. The smile returned to his face.Â

OC Winter Challenge | December 3rd â âYouâre under the mistletoe, so stop stalling and just kiss.â
As soon as I saw this prompt, I knew there was only one way this could go. Longer than a drabble, with spoilers Iâve been dying to share for over seven months.
Fandom: Supernatural
OC: Celia Harper
â
The Christmas tree was pretty, there was no denying that. Celia stared at the fairy lights. The sounds in the living room slowly faded away, replaced in her mind with Sinatraâs cover of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
It was a year ago, and she was swapping the decorative fruit bowl on the kitchen counter with a smaller one that featured Santa Claus and reindeer. The humming from the other room grew momentarily louder, then quieter, and finally stopped. An arm circled her waist, fingers splaying protectively over her belly. The soft kiss on the side on her neck made her smile. As always.
âLiving roomâs done.â
Celia turned to look beyond her husband, taking in the Christmas decorations. Subtle but still festive.
âAnd Iâm done here, so . . . thatâs it.â She glanced around before meeting his warm brown eyes. âWe have officially finished decorating the house.â She leaned back into Chris. âOur very first holiday here.â
His hand pressed against her lightly. âAnd next Christmas weâll be plus one.â
Celia covered his fingers with hers and, after a long moment, turned to face him.
Chris had shifted with her. When she looked up, he was holding a fake sprig of mistletoe above their heads and wearing a lop-sided grin.
Celia raised an eyebrow. âThatâs cheating.â Her lips twitched. âAnd itâs fake.â
The spark in Chrisâ eyes matched hers. âItâs still mistletoe, youâre under it, so stop stalling and just kiss me.â
She laughed and put her arms around his neck, drawing him closer.
The song was ending. Celia pulled herself back to the present. She realized she was twirling the wedding band on her finger. Dropping her hands to her sides, she looked over to the playpen near the table.
Daniel was sitting quietly, small fingers wrapped tightly around a stuffed owl, but his attention was on the Christmas tree. The reflection from the string lights made his eyes look a little lighter, almost amber. He began jabbering and looked down at his toy, shaking it.
Celia found herself smiling. Two months ago â heck, even one month ago â she wouldnât have thought about Christmas. It had felt too soon. The hole in her heart was still there, but at least the jagged edges had softened. Daniel had seen to that. The days when she had cried and cried were gone, and it was a week since she had last woken up and felt that sharp stab when she remembered the place next to her in the bed was empty.
Christmas would be different this year. Two of the people closest to her were gone. She may have long accepted Bobbyâs passing, but she still missed her fatherâs old friend. The holiday season reminded her of his childhood visits, not because of any religious connotation, but because he always had bits of folklore and legend to share. That was his gift. And when she got older, they would exchange new information.
A long sigh made Celia turn her eyes to Grace, lying next to her sonâs playpen. The Belgian Shepherd was all but sprawled on the floor, eyebrows moving and ears perked. Celia felt the corners of her mouth lifting reflexively.
She moved away from the tree and made for her bedroom, going through a mental list of all the things she had to pack. It wasnât a long drive, but her dad was expecting them first thing in the morning.
OC Winter Challenge || December 9th â âI mean, I knew you had Christmas spirit but this is ridiculous.â (need to use a gif of Anna in Noelle)
Aileen Donoghue & James Galloway
James having just finished another rehearsal for the new musical in which he was playing the lead role had only one thing in mind, to arrive at the house he shared with his best friend and girlfriend for the past 2 years Aileen and succeed in making her forget for one evening the future show in which she was going to play. As he walked through the door, he stopped dead in his track seeing the house decorating from top to bottom for Christmas with decorations purchased from Aileen's various trips to the various Disney parks and Disney stores. Seeing the decoration, James was having a debate with himself whether to return from where he came from or just stay home and help, knowing that Aileen would kill him if he was to disappear, decide to put his coat in the closet and went to look for his girlfriend, walking around the first floor which looked more like Santa Claus house than theirs and headed for the fourth floor when he couldn't find Aileen in all of the decoration.
Passing the second floor, he saw from the only open door that even the guest rooms had been decorated for the Christmas holidays, he smirked, thinking of Blaine, Sebastian and Sam who were to spend the week with them for the holidays and who would be entitled to the Disney Christmas madness even in their room. He was looking forward to seeing Sebastianâs reaction more than the other two, since Sam was more like Aileen when thinking about Disney movies and Blaine was one to just be happy to see his sister of heart joyful for a change. As he continued to their room, he came to a halt again when on the third floor, instead of seeing the two spaces usually reserved for their music studio he was seeing instead a Christmas wonderland, he was beginning to wonder if he should be afraid of what Aileen could have done with their room and the rest of the house. He knew she loved Christmas and Disney but this was a whole new level even for her. Â Finally reaching their bedroom he saw that Aileen was reading a book wearing what looks like an elf outfit and drinking hot cocoa.
âAileen, what did you do?â
"What do you mean?" she asked as she lowered her book onto the reading table.
âWhere to begin? The houseâŚyour clothes?â
âI'm just in the spirit of Christmas.â Twirling around to show her clothes.
âHoney, I love you and I know you have a Christmas spirit but this is ridiculous.â Showing the Disney Christmas tapestry behind her reading chair, and pointing from the staircase to the snow covering the third floor.
âCome on, is not that bad!â
âNot that badâŚhave you seen the house; I mean you even decorate the boyâs bedroom. You know how Sebastian can be.â Seeing her smirk as she looks at him. âYou did their rooms on purpose.â
âWho? Me? NoâŚ. Maybe?â coming towards him and kissing him. âI know this is going overboard but this year I feel like we should do it grand.â Laughing when she heard the doorbell. âAnd between you and me you are so looking forward Bas reaction.â
James just smiles before descending toward the first floor to answer the door. Opening the door, he was already laughing seeing that the three men saw from the windows some of the decoration and was oscillating between excitation and dread to see the inside of the house. Sam was the first to enter the house already smiling loving the decoration before going to take Aileen in his arms happy to see her happy for a change. Blaine followed soon encircling her with his arm, before exchanging a smile with her and giving way to Sebastian whom to greet her kissed her on the head before arching an eyebrow seeing the clothes she was wearing. Taking his arm in hers, she led him to the room, he and Blaine were going to be in for the next week. Glancing behind her to see Blaine, James and Sam following them with a huge grin in their faces knowing the young man was going to block when he saw the state of the rooms. At destination, she just let go of his arm and motioned for him to open the door before going to join James, who wrapped his arms around her. Sebastian opening the bedroom door froze before turning back to Aileen with a frightened look.
âStill think it was ridiculous?â Â Sending a small smile in Jamesâs direction, before laughing at Sebastianâs reaction.

December 1st:Â âCome play in the snow with me.â
Pairing: Eleventh Doctor x Esme Grigori
GIFS are not mine.
To say Esme was dubious about snow was an understatement.
âLet me get this straight,â she said slowly, primarily to make sure her English could be understood with her thick Venetian accent, but also to express her incredulity. âYou purposefully go outside when it is freezing to play in this. . .mound of frozen water?â
Amy rolled her eyes. âSnow, Esme. Itâs called snow.â
âRight, snow.â Crossing her arms over her chest, Esme watched in increasing bewilderment as the Doctor, Amy, and Rory pulled on ever-increasing amounts of winter clothing. Sweaters, sweatshirts, puffy jackets, then hats and gloves and boots so thick a tack couldnât penetrate them. âItâs just. . .â
Hearing her voice drop, the Doctorâs gaze snapped up. His emerald eyes were just visible through his fringe, which was currently crushed beneath a TARDIS blue knit cap. âJust what, Esme?â he prodded.
Esme prayed her cheeks didnât flush. It was honestly quite ridiculous how easy the Doctor could make her blush. The quickest glance of those emerald eyes on hers sent the blood rushing to her cheeks, like there was a switch hidden somewhere in her body that only flicked on when his gaze landed on her. Not to mention, she was particularly reluctant to admit her true thoughts when the Doctor and the Ponds seemed so excited. âJust. . .â She shrugged. âJust silly, I guess.â
âSilly?!â The Doctorâs jaw dropped and his nearly nonexistent eyebrows shot straight up to the edge of the knit cap. âPlaying in the snow isnât silly! Itâs fun!â
Esme just shook her head. âWhat is so fun about playing in frozen water in the freezing cold? It sounds like an excellent way to catch your death!â
âThatâs a bit of a myth, Essie,â Rory broke in. He gave her a reassuring smile as he slid on his puffy blue coat. âYou canât actually catch anything from cold weather.â
âPlenty of people in my time got sick and died from being out in the cold,â Esme retorted.
âBecause,â the Doctor jumped in, âyour time is the sixteenth century and peopleâs immune systems werenât that good back then. Not enough vaccines, no indoor plumbing or heating.â
Esme sighed. She knew he was right. After being on the TARDIS for only a few days, she hadnât been able to fathom how she had managed to live without such luxuries for nineteen years. Indoor plumbing was an absolute godsend, especially the waterfall shower in her bathroom and the multitude of lovely fragrances and soaps the TARDIS kept stocked in the cabinet under the sink. Heating and air conditioning were equally marvelous. Never again would she have to suffer Veniceâs dreary, damp winters or its suffocating, sweltering heat in the summer. And, of course, the vaccines! The Doctor had inoculated her against so many horrible diseases since she came aboard: the plague, chicken pox, diphtheria, and so many others she had never heard of before, like polio and COVID-19. Esme felt so much safer with this advanced medicine.
So, since the Doctor was the one who had vaccinated her against any and everything potentially harmful, he had to know what he was talking about with this snow, right? Maybe it wonât be so bad, Esme thought. Maybe itâll even be fun like he says.
âCome on, Esme!â Amy, whoâd been in the back of the wardrobe room searching through coats, suddenly popped up in front of her. In her hands were a bunch of winter weather clothing. She pushed them towards Esme. âItâll be great, youâll see!â
Looking at the three eager faces before her, Esme knew that despite any reservations she still held, she couldnât disappoint them. âAlright,â she nodded, laughing at the responding cheers.
            ~OC Winter Challenge~
The TARDIS had landed on the perpetually snowy landscape of the planet Hiems. Esme had noted that the planetâs name was the literal Latin word for winter, but she was surprised to learn that the name actually referred to the man who discovered it â an amateur English astronomer called Charles Hiems. The fact that the 28/7, 466-days a year weather matched Charlesâ name was just a coincidence.
Still, coincidence or not, the planet was absolutely beautiful. The sky was a bright and brilliant blue, dotted here and there by puffy grayish-white clouds. The TARDIS had materialized in a wide, open field that was completely covered in snow. The snow itself was whiter than any pearl could ever hope to be and sparkled like diamonds. Off in the distance, a dark blue fence was visible. Just beyond it was a light-blue farmhouse and a bright red barn. Smoke puffed out of the farmhouseâs stone chimney while buckets of poinsettiaâs were scattered all around the porch and the path leading up to the barn.
Esme, Amy, and Rory viewed the scene in awe. âItâs like something from a Christmas card,â Rory marveled.
âShould have remembered to bring my camera phone,â Amy joked.
The Doctor, standing just behind them, rolled his eyes. âThereâs more important things in life than updating Twitter, Pond,â he said with no small amount of derision.
Amy gave him a decisive nod. âYouâre right.â Unless it was Esmeâs imagination, those hazel eyes turned a shade mischievous. âLike. . .â Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, Amy had darted out, formed a snowball, and threw it straight at Rory.
Esme yelped as the tightly packed snow splattered against Roryâs coat. Her eyes widened. Was this what the Doctor meant by having fun playing in the snow? If so, getting balls of snow thrown at you didnât sound like her cup of tea. An actual cup of tea by the fireplace in the library â now that sounded fun.
But Rory didnât share Esmeâs concerns. The moment the snowball made its impact, he cried out, âOh, youâre on, Red!â and sprang out after Amy. Right behind him was the Doctor
Standing in the TARDIS doorway, wearing a thick pink sweater, jeans, and the white button-up coat, black gloves, and brown lace-up boots Amy had thrust at her, Esme watched her three new friends. The pristine snow was quickly ruined as Amy and Rory engaged in a wild snowball fight and the Doctor flopped back in the snow and started making snow angels.
It was all certainly interesting, although Esme still wasnât sure about the fun part. But how will you know for sure if you donât try it? She wondered.
Right as she was pondering that, the Doctor broke through her thoughts. âCome on, Esme!â he called. His eyes were bright, his cheeks flushed from the cold despite his superior Time Lord biology, and he was giving her a dazzling smile. It was the exact same smile heâd worn when she accepted his offer to travel with him and the Ponds. âCome play in the snow with me!â
She couldnât refuse that wonderful eagerness of his. Offering him a dazzling smile of her own, Esme ran out into the snow.
