IM SORRY THIS REALLY SUCKS KAY BAI. I made it extra long as an apology for taking a break for so long even though the challenge is 500 to 800 words. @maruthor @dc-comics-imagines @dc-imagine-central @royslittleharper @cuddles-for-cassie
Presently, Antoinette was in the kitchen. Hiding. Hal had run into one of his childhood buddies while he was at the grocery store (Antoinette sent him out after discovering he didnât have any proper food in his house) and decided to invite her over for dinner.
Antoinette had no qualm with having company over. She held dear to her heart the idea of the more the merrier. However, what was happening in their livingroom made her think twice about her welcoming philosophy.
âHi, Iâm Hannah. Hannah Ames. Itâs nice to meet you,â she held out her hand.
Antoinette reciprocated the handshake. The otherâs hand was soft with a reassuring firm grip.
She opened her mouth to respond when Hal cut in.
âHannah, this is my girlfriend Antoinette,â Hal gestured to each girl respectively as he said their name.
âHannahâs an old friend of mine,â Hal stood beside Hannah, his eyes meeting Antoinetteâs. He draped his arm around Hannahâs shoulder as the two girls exchanged smiles.
Hannah was absolutely gorgeous. Golden hair flowed down to her mid back. Eyes as blue as the ocean with just a hint of green when the light caught them. A complexion that would make man and woman alike jealous. The scent that wafted off of her just as warm and soft as her facial features, not to mention she was tall.
After a few minutes of settling in, Hal invited Hannah to make herself feel at home and Antoinette excused herself to the kitchen where she was now.
âI guess weâre having baked mushroom linguine for dinner,â she said as she observed the hodge podge of ingredients Hal had brought home.
She quietly sorted through the groceries. Putting what needed to be put away in the refrigerator in the refrigerator and sorting everything else into their respective cupboards and jars. As she snapped close the flour jar, she wondered if Hannah had any dietary preferences. She needed to ask.
Antoinette moved to the center of the kitchen and sighed feigning exhaustion. She pulled her hair into a ponytail, checked over the counter tops, spun on her heels then began her walk back to the living room.
She heard laughter in the distance. It brought a smile to her face. She imagined Halâs smile as he exchanged words with Hannah.
Antoinetteâs expression fell. Hannah. She felt buds of jealousy implant themselves in her chest. Quickly she tried to shake the feeling. In an attempt to make the burning sensation dissappear, she placed her hand over her heart and rubbed circles into her chest.
Antoinette fixed a smile on her face as she swung a left into the living room.
âOh my god. How cute!â
Hannahâs voice reached her ears first, though she wasnât listening.
Antoinette froze where she stood. Smile dropping from her face as she took in the scene laid before her.
Hal and Hannah were cuddled up on the couch. Halâs left arm was draped around their guestâs, right arm cradling a photo album. Hannahâs head resting against his left shoulder, cozily lounging against him.
Antoinette opened her mouth then promptly closed it. She wasnât going to deal with this. She turned to head back to the kitchen.
In the corner of his eye, Hal spot his girlfriend or rather the back of her head.
âHey babe,â he called out, âI was just showing Hann here some pictures of us.â
Antoinette pasted a fake smile on her face as she turn around to face them again.
âThatâs cool,â she replied half-heartedly, lost for words. She knew Hal wasnât trying to do anything inappropriate, but she couldnât help feeling angry.
âI just came to ask if Hannah has any special requests for dinner. Like are you vegetarian or anything like that?â she asked motioning with her hands.
âNo, Iâm all good. Thank you again for inviting me to dinner,â Hanna replied genuinely with a brilliant smile, straightening up a little, but still leaning against Hal.
Antoinette couldnât help but notice how radiant she was. Hannah was absolutely and effortlessly gorgeous. She could see how any guy would fall for her, in the back of her mind she included Hal.
âAlrighty, Iâm gonna head back to the kitchen.â Antoinette bowed out quickly, avoiding unnecessary interaction.
As Antoinette walked away, Hannah punched Hal in the side.
âDude! I think you should talk to her,â Hannah scolded him, her expression stern.
âWhat?â He replied. As perceptive as he was, some things still flew right over his head. This time it was a thing concerning his girlfriend.
âYou didnât see her face?â
Halâs eyebrows scrunched together, confused.
âWeâre really close, but generally a guy and a girl who arenât dating donât usually cuddle. You should go talk to her so she doesnât think Iâm trying to steal you away.â
It took a second for Hal to process Hannahâs words. He mouthed an âOhâ and hung his head.
âIâll be right back,â Hal stood up and made his way to the kitchen.
Antoinette stood over the kitchen sink, washing mushrooms in silence. She was still trying to process everything. As she roughly shut off the running water, arms wrapped around her torso and warm lips gently pressed to the side of her neck.
She breathed in Halâs scent, his warmth encircling her.
âSorry,â he whispered gently.
Antoinette said nothing.
âYes I know friends shouldnât act like that but really, itâs just platonic. Besides,â Hal spun her around, âHannah would much rather check you out than me.â
He leaned in for a kiss. Antoinette gave him a quick forgiveness peck before pushing him away gently, facially asking for clarification.
âSheâs into girls.â
âOhhhhh.â
