(Love the writing!) But i'm kinda confused. Beside the dancing Sea was my first intro to selkies - i thought they couldn't speak? a quick google search didn't return anything on their voices either :(

actually in most selkie lore the seals can talk -- in fact in some of these stories that’s how u know you’re talkin to a selkie in the first place. in BtDS we decided we wanted Yuuri to be mute but he can still make seal noises, which he doesn’t do a lot of in his human form bc his mutism is fairly selective and is very driven by his anxiety over how weird seal noises sound coming out of him. this is helped by the fact that harbour seals are a very quiet species!

but in this au of the AU viktor is a harp seal, and they’re notoriously chattery even on land (look up harp seal noises!), so i thought it fits him better to be able to speak, though i’m not quite sure how comprehensible he is, either. :’D

@tenacioustooru i love this gal right here because we just scream about everything and anything under the sun together, especially single parent AUs??? We’re also the same person which is a plus. Like literally we always read each other’s minds
