These Are the People That You Must Remember | Ian & Carrie
Ian had made the climb up this old lighthouse more times than he could count. Truth be told, it was a better spot in the middle of fall, when it was cooler and it wasn’t so packed with tourists, but there was something about it that Ian loved -- even when it was during the peak of summer.Â
The lighthouse was an old structure. He could still hear Carrie’s voice inside his head reminding him that it was built in 1792 and how it was the first lighthouse authorized by the US Government. Everytime he came, he thought he might finally know as much about it as Carrie did, but she always managed to dig up some new piece of information she hadn’t told him yet.
When he reached the very top, he saw that Carrie was there. She was giving an animated speech about the newer lighthouse that stood nearby to a young couple and hadn’t noticed him yet and Ian took a moment to look out. The view was beautiful -- even to someone like Ian who had looked out from places like the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall, and the Cliffs of Moher more times than he could count. Perhaps it wasn’t as breathtaking, but from here he could look out on the place where he had made the best memories of his life. Â
He turned back around just as the couple made their way down again and Carried turned and him, “So, I just wanted to ask -- how is it that you’ve worked here for all these years and you haven’t died from heatstroke? You know, if you guys need money for central air, all you have to do is ask.” He said, teasingly.Â
