There are a handful of times when I remember someone's name after only meeting them once, so I'll use it casually, but it becomes obvious that they've forgotten mine. Not a big deal, but it's a pretty typical mildly awkward situation.

I've started to use the phrase "It's… [name], right?" even if I'm positive I know it. It seems to make people more comfortable asking for my name again right away if they've forgotten, rather than postpone it awkwardly or try to figure it out later. I know that it has been used on me and it had that effect.

It also puts a safety factor on your uncertainty in case you actually do have the name wrong.

You can tune the length of the pause depending on how unsure you want to sound. Wait too long, though, and they might say it for you, which isn't ideal if you want to win points for knowing their name.
