#oc vs reader insert

I can respect tags, thanks, you're the one that can't seem to tell the fucking difference between what is actually an OC insert and a reader insert.

Seriously, how long have you even been in fandom spaces?? Cause I think you need to go outside and touch grass instead of being such a little bitch, mainly because you wanna hide behind the anonymous ask instead of actually showing yourself.

Instead of being a self entitled fuckwit that possibly created nothing for fandom but gleefully polices others on what to create and how to tag their own works, which again I know how to tag my own writing, I know my own thought process, and know the difference between reader inserts and OC inserts, you grow a fucking spine and show yourself so we can mutually block each other so you don't have to see my shit. Such an easy fix.

But nah, you'd rather hide like a bitch and keep harassing someone because you're pathetic. Like, I'm sorry? I bet you're also someone who only got into fandom during the pandemic, so have some advice from a fandom elder, if you see shit you don't fucking like, just scroll past it or block the person instead of being a whiny bitch.

Hi there! So this one is actually one I struggled with for a while. As a reader and as a writer, I tend to picture the story in my head as I read or write As a reader, it can sometimes be jarring for me to be in the middle of a story and then see Y/N, Y/E/C , Y/H/C, Y/H/L etc. and can literally pull me out of the story, especially in longer stories. Usually, I end up being pulled out of the story completely and so I have had to adjust how I read those stories. 

One-Shots - usually no issue. 

However, I noticed that that would become the case when I was writing as well... I think most writers will tell you that they have at the very least an idea for their characters attributes when they sit down to write (this may not be true for everyone and that’s fine too, this is just what I have noticed in conversation with others.).  One-Shots I can write a Y/N with no big deal but with The Pull I had already cultivated a character in my head. 

I noticed that I would be going about flying through the story  (or slowly painstakingly building it) but that I would have to get to a point where I needed the readers name to be used and so, of course, I found different ways to get around that (nicknames are amazing) and having Peter and Derek use one nickname and her brothers and father use a different nickname made sense to me because of life experiences but to have everyone have a different nickname for her would be confusing as all get out in my opinion.  I actually had a conversation with someone who I really trust and has been reading the story from almost day 1 about what I wanted to do and I asked them their thoughts on this. I asked them if they thought that just giving the reader a name would change the story or the plotline and they said that they didn’t think so. 

Then I went back and re-read parts of it and realized that I don’t use the reader's name very often. If I wanted to, I could insert a name without changing the story. 

Now, I still write in the second person and I still don’t give a whole lot of description to much of what the reader wears, what they look like or anything of the matter. Really, the biggest difference is that she has a name instead of being an arbitrary figment of my imagination.
