It's shocking how often I hear new keepers saying that tortoises get all the water they need from their food. I know immediately when I hear that antiquated belief that they were told that nonsense by a keeper that stopped learning. It was a common misconception years ago but we have definitely learned better in the last 30 years. The hatchling drinking deeply in the video is roughly 36 hours old. He's not eating yet because he is still living on his yolk sac reserves. Within minutes of being taken from its brooder and put in this "growth" enclosure it was soaking and drinking. I encourage everyone to stay humble and keep learning about these fascinating animals.
