The scenes were dramatic and heartbreaking and truly well played out, with some beautiful heart-rending lines, such as the one with Shivaay saying he was just like clay which Pinky moulded to create the man he was, and when Shivaay refused to call her mum, but instead called her Pinky Singh Oberoi... there was just so much emotion and I just feel like all the things i needed to be addressed were. 

 Also I'm also happy that Shivaay has finally realised and fully accepted that naam, khoon and khandaan means nothing, it all depends on the identity of the individual

Personally, I don’t feel like the bond has lost its touch per se, but I agree with you that I miss the individual personalities shining through, which only came through when there was conflict. I love love loved whenever Omkara used to call Shivaay out on his bs (some of Om’s best scenes really), and even Rudra used to express disappointment in him. Because they are so loving and close-knit and otherwise supportive, Shivaay really used to take notice when they castigated him. Similarly, Shivaay making Omkara face the ground realities of life and how things don’t really work as he wants them to, as per his idealistic world views. Their objections to each other came from a real place of love, and wanting the other to be a better person/not go down a path that they would later regret.
