“Come and fucking get it you punks,” he hears; it stops him dead in his tracks and he watches in amazement as this little slip of a girl throws herself forward to take on half the lacrosse team at once - and she would have won too if there had been one or two less opponents, she only had so many fists after all. 

Obito’s body is moving to help this brave creature before his brain fully registers it, his book-laden knapsack crashing in to Deidara’s head while he thinks to himself, so much for not getting involved (TenTen kisses his bruises better afterwards and he’s still thanking god for spontaneous courage four years later when they marry).
