Oatbox oatmeals - reg & overnight
Hello, as promised, Iām sharing my experience with the oatmeals I got from Oatbox!
This is the regular oatmeal - white chocolate & espresso flavour.
Iām not an oatmeal person.. . In fact, I hate everything about it lol just kidding - just the texture. I just donāt like the grainy, slightly slimy(?) texture. Ive tried several kinds & none of them were pleasing. Hopefully this one will be alright since itās white chocolate + espresso! Like if the flavour is good, then maybe I can ignore the texture.
This one comes with a generous amount of white chocolate chips! It looks promising XD
Got my 1 serving ready.
I microwaved it. O_O Why is the oatmeal so OILY!!!??? WHATTTT?! Thereās literally oil floating around. omg. ..
The flavour was very VERY mildly white chocolate / espresso. It just tastes slightly sweetened. I wouldnāt have known it had chocolate or espresso flavour if you didnāt tell me. So the flavour was disappointing :( the texture. .. yeah, EWWWWWW. I was reminded of why I donāt like oatmeal. It was slimy. Yeah.. =/
I mean, I donāt feel like I wasted my money. .. My goal was to try to consume oatmeal for its fibrous properties. I Googled āhow you eat oatmeal rawā & apparently you can, so maybe Iāll just eat this product raw like a granola.
Hereās the overnight one. It was/is an online exclusive at the time of purchase. I havenāt gone back to see if it still is. Again, I got it for the flavour. & coworker said she likes overnight ones in general more bcos itās eaten cold. Iāve never had cold oatmeal before so. .. trying it!
I think this would be a good thing to have when I work night shifts. I eat 6 meals over the 24hrs when I work night shifts. Itās not great but I get hungry & my body is used to eating at those times >.<
Where are the cherries?! You know, after seeing all the white chocolate chips in the regular oatmeal, I was high hopes maybe this one contained a decent amount of dried cherries. But. .. where?
Used one of my kimchi jars as the container. Mainly bcos it has a nice lid & now I can eyeball how much 1/2 cup of liquid is for future-makings.
After 6 hours. (I made it in the morning & this was ready in the afternoon)
Sideview.
Okay, the texture was definitely better than the regular oatmeal!! Not slimy at all! I actually didnāt mind the texture of this one. I think if I under-fridge it, itād be better. Like instead of 6 hrs, I could maybe do 3-4hrs? Again, Iām planning to eat this during my night shift days. Cold is wayyyyyy better!
As for the flavour. .. almond x cherry? Yeah, no cherry. There were some large chunks of almonds, which was nice! There were some chia seeds, which I didnāt mind either. Altogether, I enjoyed this way more than the regular oatmeal.
* * * * * *
So for several subsequent makings, Iāve actually mixed the white chocolate + espresso oatmeal with this overnight one & then letting it sit overnight in the fridge. The white chocolate chips remained intact (obviously) & I find the combo works really well! I also make it more watery than how it should be lol itās definitely not thick like the picture. Moving forward, I might throw in some of my coffee granola to it!
OATBOX
My order came!!!
What is OATBOX?
Oatbox is a Canadian brand (based in QC) that sells organic oats/granolas. They run by a subscription service (once a month, once every 2 months) as well as 1 time purchase & have 3 different āboxā options. Iāll go into more detail below!
How did I hear about it?
In 2020 sometime, I talked about being into that iced coffee granola.. . do you remember? I got that from Chapters online & fell in love with it.
Why did I order?
Chapters carried several Oatbox products at the time as well, but I keep going for the iced coffee granola. Then they stopped carrying Oatbox! Even now, they donāt have it anymore. So I began looking elsewhere like Amazon & Well.ca .. so pricey! It wasnāt worth it >.< so Iāve been without the granola for over a yr now. .. Thus I made the decision to order directly from their website. .. but the thing that made me shy away from the website was their box system.. . I just want 1-2 bags, you know? Not more than that....... But I asked my coworkers & they said theyāll try some too so . ..in the end, altogether, we ordered a box of 9 - their biggest box!
The order came in this REALLY nice box :O I was pleasantly surprised!!
^ Screenshot of my order.
So for a box of 9, you get to choose 9 orders of their products. Granolas & oatmeals come in 2 bags of the same flavour per order, whereas the bars are 6 bars per order.
In other words, if you were to order a box of 9 but just the ābaggedā products, youāll end with 18 bags total. Of course, you can order more than 1 order of the flavour if you choose! But I didnāt have any doubles since it was a group order & I guess we all like different things haha.
The 10% discount was a nice surprise. They sent me a follow-up email after I made an account bcos I was a first time customer. The lack of taxes was also surprising! The company is based in QC & I was expecting QC taxes... but no taxes! Therefore, my box of 9, which is originally $92, turned out to be 82.80!
& here are all the products in the box~
I will review the oatmeals I got another time but I just wanted to have a generic post about Oatbox! I think itās a great idea for sharing purposes. I donāt live the kind the lifestyle where I can picture myself doing monthly or bimonthly subscription boxes of these products. I also like their efficient delivery service even though theyāre based on the other side of the country lol
What I dislike about their service is the boxes of 3, 6, & 9. As you may have expected, the box of 9 yields cheaper prices per bag/product - which is fine bcos Iāve come to a conclusion that itāll be group purchase moving forward. But the concrete box system is not flexible, & I like flexibility when ordering. I donāt like being locked in boxes of 3, 6, or 9 every time AND having 2 bags of the same flavour per order. I guess it has to do with their shipping budget & standardization of boxes. As a consumer, Iād be willing to pay a little more if I can go for variety, you know what I mean? So yeah. .. thatās the downside. Itād be best to order as a group purchase & trade flavours with your group.
Rien n'est plus parfait que parfait. š Boy, I love @oatbox! #oatbox #oatboxlifestyle

For breakfast today I tried my new Oatbox flavour: peanut butter and banana. I ate it with a vanilla yogurt. It was so filling! I love the little banana chunks. They melt a little into the yogurt and it's so yummy. Oatbox is a granola subscription box. It's so fun to see what new flavours I get in the mail every month. It's $15/month for two flavours and you can cancel anytime. Use my special link for $5 off your first box: http://oatb.co/q30cgu00ea
š„£ Oatbox Haul š„£ I got my oatbox this month! I finished the strawberry turmeric from last month and Iām still working on the coconut one. These are great to bring to work and eat for breakfast with some yogurt. This month I got Pear and Red Quinoa and Almond and Mango. Thereās freeze dried fruit inside both granolas. Iām excited to try them out. They both sound great and very nutritious. Oatbox is a great Canadian brand (they ship to the US too). The granolas are organic too. Itās $15 per box which is not too bad. Please follow the link for $5 off your first box. :) http://oatb.co/q30cgu00ea š„£ #oatbox #subscriptionbox #oats #oatmeal #granola #organic #organicgranola #Canadianblogger #cereal #oatmealbowl #oatmealporn #oatsovernight
