Porcelain Dolls
if you flip your hair and slick your lips and suck in your stomach they will come. if you giggle and blush and blink they will come. they are here and they will stay and damn the girl who cries herself to sleep because she's lost a friend she's lost a friend don't ask about the girl who leaves you immediately because she hates you when you are with the porcelain dolls. don't speak to her. "best friends," he promises you as you share hash browns and old laughs. "best friends," he swears as he stares in awe at her silky red hair. you don't know what you are doing you're gone gone gone we don't know you anymore as you forget how to walk as you trip over your shoes following the porcelain dolls we remember how it feels to be less pretty we remember how to cry and overdose and stay up late with empty stomachs and guilty fingers and toilets filled with meals we're gonna remember how it feels to run, not walk away away we're not the porcelain dolls; we are proud.
