Nestled in an unassuming neighborhood is a peculiar dwelling that stands out from its surroundings. Located at 2015 Clements on the city's westside is Detroit's oldest surviving log cabin, though you wouldn't be able to tell because of the current appearance of the exterior. According to state historical records, James Smith, a farmer, erected the dwelling possibly as early as 1830, but no later than 1850. At the time, the area was known as Greenfield Township, farmland way outside the city limits.
