Attentive IHM fans should recognize this gem from earlier this year, but since Tel Aviv singer songwriter and producer O Mer seems to have re-launched the single (and Icarus is a mighty fine tune), we’re going to dive back into his glitchy simmering song today. The now Brooklyn based artist provides us with flawless production and satin falsettos on Icarus. Its slick swells, ever shifting texture, and moody pulses remind us of SOHN and James Blake. The indie electro opus will be on O Mer’s upcoming EP Refugee. No doubt Brooklyn based Tel Aviv singer songwriter and producer O Mer is the architect of some of the most intriguing and fascinating soundscapes in the indie scene right now. Just listen to his new composition, a finespun dose of indietronica hypnosis named Icarus. In Greek mythology, Icarus flew too close to the sun. O Mer’s mournful skittering song brims with regret even as it seems to take that very same flight of ill fated grandeur towards the skies. Its beats glimmer and its synths burble then tumble, bringing to mind the ornate depth of music from the likes of SOHN, James Blake, and Son Lux. O Mer’s Icarus is out now on iTunes.
