It’s a mystery that just came to our attention, and we think it deserves an investigation. Think back to February, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 New York Toy Fair at the Javitz Center. We spotted some unreleased Tamagotchi Original shells at the Bandai booth in the Tamagotchi section. Four of those five shells did get announced back in July, and released in August.

However there was one shell that was pictured at the Tamagotchi Original section of the Bandai booth at the New York Toy Fair that never saw the light of day. The shell in question is a dark blue, with a lighter purple blue around the screen, and features serval shapes in orbit around the shell, with red buttons. This is definitely a cute shell, so perhaps this is why we are conducting an investigation.

Looking for an excuse to buy yet another Tamagotchi Original? Well have no fear, Bandai America has just given you another reason to pick up another one, or maybe even two.

Bandai America has just officially announced the latest Tamagotchi Original shells, and these are by far some of our favorite ones! These shell designs should look very similar to Tama-Palace viewers, because we spotted these at the 2020 New York Toy Fair back in March of 2020!

The new shells titled “Sprinkles”, “Sky”, “Neon”, and ‘Hearts” respectively are now available for pre-order on Amazon, Diamond Comics, Entertainment Earth & Galactic Toys! Amazon is reporting that the launch date of these four new beautiful shells is August 21, 2020. MSRP for the latest shells is the usual $19.99. Of course programming is identical to previous versions of the Tamagotchi Original, but please note that “Sprinkles”, and “Neon” feature P1 programming, and “Sky”, and “Hearts” feature P2 programming.

Remember the mystery we reported on last week? The Tamagotchi Original shell that was showcased at the 2020 New York Toy Fair, but never made it to market since? Well we’ve got an update from Bandai America that might relieve those who were worried.

After reaching out to Bandai America asking specifically about this shell, and if there are plans to release this shell we received the following response:

“It’s still coming…”

You heard it here first! Bandai America still has plans to release this shell pictured above, that was showcased at the 2020 New York Toy Fair back in February! This is super exciting, as we think the shell is unique and gender neutral! Although there have been some Tamagotchi Original shell releases since the 2020 New York Toy Fair, it appears that this shell is still on the roadmap!

WHAT! Well it appears that what you’ve been wanting for many years is finally happening. Bandai America was showing off the upcoming Tamagotchi On Fantasy Version this past week at the 2020 New York Toy Fair! Why would Bandai America bring an unannounced and unreleased device to the toy fair? Well keep in mind the toy fair is not for the general public, its for toy manufacturers, and retailers, and limited press participants.

Bandai America was not hiding it though, if you look closely in the photo that we’ve posted of the Tamagotchi on section of the Bandai America booth you can see the beautiful Tamagotchi On Fantasy Version available in both the purple and blue colors. The Tamagotchi On boxes look almost identical with the exception of some fantasy characters, and you can see that the sticker in the upper right-hand corner reads “Fantasy” and features an image of Yumemi Alice, one of the Fantasy Version exclusive characters.

Information is extremely limited as Bandai America has not announced the device, but they were actively showing it off to toy fair participants. The sign besides the device reads “NO PHOTOGRAPHY”, so that explains why images are so hard to come across. We would imagine if Bandai America were to release this version it would have similar pricing of the Tamagotchi On device and availability later this summer for the fall lineup. This would align perfectly with the information previously provided about some Tamagotchi On news for the fall provided by the director of marketing.

Wow, it seems like Bandai America wasn’t hiding much at the New York Toy Fair 2020. In a recent video of the Tamagotchi section of the Bandai America booth you will see the Tamagotchi Original table, which features the beautiful new shells that were just released, but there is more. You can see a quick glimpse of five unreleased shell designs!

It’s hard to make out what the actual designs are because the video pans past the graphic hanging on the wall which features images of the five new shell designs. From what we can see there is a blue, pink, yellow, purple, and white shell. Some of the shells feature some cute designs, but really cannot be made out by the image we’ve featured above.
