Cinammon Frog
Nyctixalus pictus (Rhacophoridae) is a beautiful frog of lowland and hillside rainforests of Asia, commonly known as Cinammon Frog, White-spotted tree frog, and Spotted Tree Frog.
Besides the unique dorsal coloration of this attractive frog, which ranges from orange to brown (cinnamon), flecked with tiny white spots, its eyes are striking since upper half of iris is white, while lower half is brown.
This species is a phytothelm breeder, meaning that tadpoles develop in miniature water bodies in or on plants or parts of plants that are either living or about to die, such as bromeliads, pitcher plants or even fungus.Â
This species, regarded as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List, can be found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
