Whyyyyyyyy are the fish tacos @elparadorcafe so gewd, doe?!?!? *already salivating* 🤤 whenever the city reopens here is def on my list of places to revisit! 🙌🏼 It’s the “oldest Mexican restaurant in NYC” est. in 1959 - check out the video at the bottom of their website!! They’ve won Open Table and Trip Advisor awards, the New York Times voted them for best ceviche, the New York Press voted them for best margs 🔥 their staff is super amiable; the atmosphere is dimly lit, romantic (perfect for a date night!) with soothing Spanish music playing. Seriously no complaints on my end - this place means business!! 💕😋 when I go back I kinda wanna try the jalapeños rellenos which are peppers you can get stuffed with cheese or peanut butter, kinda curious how the latter would taste 🤔😜overall rating: 9.1! #tatstacos #tatistacos #nyctacos #tacosnyc #nycmexicanfood #elparador #ilovemexicanfood #ilovemexican #ilovetacos #ilovetacossomuch #ilovetacos🌮 #feedmetacosandtellmeimpretty #feedmetacos #tacosforever #letstacoboutit #letstacoboutlove #tacotuesday #elparador #tacosallday #tacoseveryday🌮 #tacoseveryday #lovemesomemexicanfood #lovemesometacos #tacoaddict #tacoaddiction #fishtacos🐟 #fishtacos #fishtacosfordays #bajafishtacos #yummytacos #tacotaco (at El Parador Cafe) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-cQEF1DHW7/?igshid=s44qs7ai13ga
Not totally sure what’s up with the screaming in the background of this vid 😂 but these tacos are raddddddd sauce, maynnnn!!!! 🙌🏼 (plz feed me more 🙏🏼) only at @flatsfixnewyork Union Square location! (There’s one by Flat Iron too) per their website, this is how the place came about: “Flats Fix Taco Y Tequila Bar is brought to you by the team behind the iconic Union Square Coffee Shop, Live Bait, and Luna Park. Born from an old garage on Union Square, the name harkens back to the classic New York storefronts scattered around the city that repair tire flats in 5 minutes. In one such garage, the wife of the owner prepared the most delectable tacos while you waited, thus the idea was born to reinvent the concept to bring those flavors to diners as a true restaurant.” Thought it’s important for you to know that bc this funky, up-beat and historical establishment is WHERE IT’S AT, bro! Happy hour Monday-Friday 3-7pm with 2 tacos for $6 (except the seafood tacos are an up charge). Pictured here are: super tasty slow smoked brisket taco with salsa verde, guac, pico de gallo; house smoked pastrami taco with spicy cheese, “thousand Island” Sauce House Slaw, and guac; seared wild caught fish with Cucumber Slaw, Kimchee Sauce, guac and pico De Gallo; and finally crispy LONG ISLAND DUCK with Mango Glaze, Guac, and Pico De Gallo. *UM HEAVEN!* 😇 the only thing I would point out is the place is def loud and the bartenders def take their time to serve you, but they’re all very friendly. Overall rating: 7.5! 😋 #flatsfixtaqueria #nyctacos #ilovetacos #tatstacos #tatistacos #feedmeandtellmeimpretty #lovemesometacos #tactuesday #briskettacos #fishtacos🐟 #fishtacos #pastramitacos #ducktacos #tacoenthusiast #tacosforlife #tacosfordays #tacosfordinner #mexicanfordinner #tacoboutlove #yummytacos (at Flats Fix) https://www.instagram.com/p/B86oneKBZrT/?igshid=cfx71uxv3c5q
Do you know @tacodumbo ? So. Taco-y. Deliciousoso! Miso cod taco on a lettuce wrap, the tastiest truffle shroom taco on crunchy shell 🙌🏼 & rotisserie chicken tinga taco. Can’t forget a few (or more!) of the homemade hot sauce cups to top these babies off! 😋tacos are only $5 and way worth it for the flavor! Super chill establishment with pink decor and beachy music. Recommend this place to any taco connoisseur (esp those who love SoCal tacos) 😎💕🔥🙌🏼😋 #tacodumbo #nyctacos #tacosnyc #tatastacos #tatistacos #tacotaco #tacotacotaco #tacostacostacostacos #tacos🌮 #tacosaremylovelanguage #fishtacosfordays #tacosforlife🌮 #tacosforlife #feedmetacos #feedmetacosandtellmeimpretty #tacotuesday #mushroomtaco #fishtacos #fishtacos🐟 #codtacos #chickentingatacos #lettucewraptacos #socaltacos #tacoboutlove #tacoboutaparty #letstacoboutit #tacosallweek #tacosforlife #tacosforlunch (at Taco Dumbo) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4czAz2Bpzk/?igshid=batdtio8ycsp
I have recently discovered the best Taqueria in existence. St. Marks and Second Avenue, thank me later. On a random night out in the East Village, the aroma exploding from this Taqueria was so intense and A-balls that I had to go in. Well, I wouldn’t really even consider it going “inside” as the entire establishment is probably only 100 feet long, consisting of one large counter and approx. 6 barstools (the small unassuming Mexican food joints are always the best in my experience ). If you can grab a seat, park yourself down and order everything on the menu. First, get yourself a nice big plate of nachos. These are not your ordinary nachos. You know that feeling of sadness and frustration that consumes you when you realize that only the first layer of chips has the gooey goodness on top, and the remaining ¾ of the chips are naked and embarrassed? This problem is all too familiar too us, and I mean it’s not rocket science, but OH WELL. You surely won’t experience that at Taqueria Diana since the toppings are layered on in heaping proportions. I’m talking every chip is smothered. It’s amazing. I also suggest that you try one of each type of taco offered, and wear a bib because they are SO juicy. I wouldn’t be surprised if you make this your weekend go-to…I mean I went twice one weekend but let’s not talk about that.

Weekend Recap: Yo quiero mas
This past weekend was spent catching up with the family in Playa del Carmen, and while I could try to recommend places to eat there, it might be a bit far for most of you. But! Don't worry! There are delicious Mexican options here in the city too.
A couple weeks ago the Gothamist published their list of top ten burritos in NYC and were promptly made the laughing stock of the Remezcla staff. (You can read the original article here: http://gothamist.com/2013/10/09/the_10_best_burritos_in_nyc.php and the Remezcla response here: http://www.remezcla.com/2013/latin/gothamist-ranks-best-burritos-in-nyc-we-lol/).
But to be honest, I could care less about the burritos and that’s because (let’s face it) tacos are better than burritos.
Here’s why: you get to taste a whole bunch of flavors than that you don’t get with just one burrito. Ordering a steak burrito? Shrink it down to a steak taco, and you still have room to try a chipotle veggie taco, and a mole chicken taco. Tacos are the tapas of burritos – more portable, more options, and small tastes that pack a big punch if done correctly.
But being done deliciously is a difficult thing to do, especially if you’re eating out in New York City where taco options abound. There are bad tortillas, dry chicken, and water salsas scattered among the chosen few.
Here’s my rundown of top taco spots around the city (in no particular order) – where you can always find a tasty tortilla with a variety of fillings to meet your Mexi-cravings.
1. La Esquina - small hole in the wall with a secret downstairs tequila cave and a sit down restaurant around the corner. If you want to impress someone, make reservations in the speakeasy. If you want amazing tacos on a budget, eat upstairs.
2. Café Habana – The fish tacos here are the best I've had in the city. The beer batter is crispy, the slaw isn't mayo-laden, and they're served with flavorful rice and refried black beans. What's not to like?
3. Calexico - Whether you're visiting one of their brick and mortar locations or grabbing a bite on the go from one of their food carts, you'll be satisfied with most of the menu. Yes, there are burritos, but go for the Pollo Tocino taco with chicken, bacon, roasted tomatillo sauce, cotija cheese, and pickled jalapenos. You know what they say, if you build it with bacon, they will come.
4. Taco Mix - For a more authentic feel, head to East Harlem's Taco Mix. There's really only one taco that you should be ordering here and that's the al pastor. See that delicious spit of pork? That's what they make their al pastor tacos with. Served with a skewer of pineapple and, if you like it hot, slathered with some (or all) of their salsas this is one of the cheapest tacos on the list, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in a powerful flavor punch. No website for this one. You can find it 234 E. 116th Street. Easily accessible by the 6 train.
