the anime did SUCH a good job adapting the de-aging chapter... tiny Natsume’s cute high-pitched voice... the pacing in the entire episode... the skittish body language on tiny Natsume... Nyanko-Sensei being a giant tsundere... the tension when Natsume is confronted by the bad youkai and runs away from Taki and Tanuma... the shots of the youkai lake/fish reflection during the talk between Natsume, Taki and Tanuma... every single shot of Taki being super cute as usual... the way little Natsume’s hope that he actually found a loving and accepting environment gradually grows... it’s just so perfect I’m crying.

also I love episodes that focus on how other people perceive natsume, especially youkai, because they’re just so wholesome. the mid-ranks love natsume just like the other youkai but they have no clue how humans work and are also 100% not willing to admit it. it’s so cute I love it so much.

season 5 episode 11: the mid-ranks brought natsume fever-reducing medicine after he caught a cold, and his fever went down and he got better. only it turns out that the medicine doesn’t work on humans.
