NWAV will be known all across the 🌎 one day! Our wave will be special 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊 #NWAV #FinesseMuzik @qeeezy @_yaeyo_ @d.izzzz @juice_finesse ... 🎥 VIDEO by @chem_vision x @d.izzzz 🔥🔥
This channel is operated by Paul De Decker (Memorial University, Linguistics) and features interviews, discussions, and talks with real linguists.
I’m attending NWAV44 (New Ways of Analyzing Variation) this weekend, and it’s a great conference to follow along with if you’re interested in sociolinguistics. All the plenary talks are being livestreamed here on youtube (here’s a schedule with descriptions - the first one is at 6:30 ET tonight but I expect you’ll still be able to watch later even if you’re a bit late to do so live though), and there are also designated livetweeters for each talk who along with the general attendees will be livetweeting at #nwav44.
The preliminary program for NWAV 43 is now available! It looks like I'm going to have to make a tough call between hearing "Homogeneity, convergence, mega-trends, and stuff like that" (which is closely connected in topic to the talk I'll be giving immediately after in the same room) and "Citizen Sociolinguistics and the 'Accent Challenge': Toward a New Sociolinguistic Methodology using Internet-Circulated Social Media" (which is just plain cool).
