An elderly patient came to see me this week with a sore leg for no apparent reason, and after a chat about what was going in in his life and an examination, we determined that it was due to inactivity that stemmed back to a year ago when he moved house. He used to walk 3 times a week and hadn't been. He moved house, his environment changed and his exercise habits suffered. Yesterday I was pondering - 'why am I not making almond milk anymore?' ...ahem.... I moved house in September and haven't made it since then!! So I am walking my talk and starting over with my milk making habit (almond not boobie, though that is still hanging in there too). Yesterday I soaked a cup of raw almonds in filtered water and a big pinch of salt. Today I strained and rinsed the soaked almonds, then blended them on high speed with 1.25 litres of filtered water for 90 seconds. Followed by straining through a nut milk bag. The result is two passata jars full of fresh almond milk. I don't do dairy or soy milk and have been having rice milk again.
