We had a fun and productive day today celebrating our first wedding anniversary and preparing our baby’s nursery at home! Sundays are typically our quieter weekend day reserved for big brunches, house cleaning, and preparation for the coming week. We had talked about going for a hike at Inwangsan mountain, but decided to leave that adventure for a warmer day. Instead, we worked on setting up the baby’s nursery most of the day and Shawn made us a special anniversary dinner at night. Making progress on the nursery felt very fun and rewarding! We are happy with how it is coming along. 

The nursery theme is honeybees, after my childhood nickname. We chose this theme before we knew we were expecting a boy, and I think it would be nice for either gender. We got the rug, white wire bookcase, and cloud crib mobile from IKEA. The white dresser was a hand-me-down from my parents. Shawn built a wooden frame for the top of the dresser to hold a changing pad. It attaches to the dresser with hinges and it can later be removed when the baby no longer needs it. This has been a great solution for us rather than purchasing a separate table for changing the baby. Shawn also built the honeycomb-shaped shelves on the wall above the dresser! We are going to stain the shelves a chestnut brown color this week. There are also 2 honeycomb-inspired paintings displayed in the nursery that I made in our local arts and crafts center. 

A sharp eye will notice that there are 2 clocks on the wall beside the dresser. We will have one clock set to Korean standard time and the other set to one of the time zones where our friends and family live! We plan to go back to get a third clock for the other major time zone our family resides in once the supply is restocked. We thought this would be a fun way to keep our loved ones in mind!
