That was the last time they ordered sushi from home. There was nothing that screamed quality as watching the fish being cut in front of you and prepared right before your eyes. The indigestion that Miran got after eating it was simply not worth it. However, even after throwing up the remains of their dinner, she still didn’t feel relieved. She avoided hospitals as the Devil avoided the cross but the nauseous feeling that she had sitting on her stomach had her rethinking her options. It was while brushing her teeth for the second time that night that she promised herself to go to the hospital tomorrow, if she didn’t feel any better after waking up. The only thing that brought her some peace of mind, however, was how peaceful Seunghyun had looked while sleeping. Over the years, Miran had noticed, his nightmares became easier to deal with. They were not gone completely but he managed to get some sleep, at least. And although it didn’t stop her from being concerned with him, it sure relieved her a little. So when she came back to their room, her breathe fresh and minty by now, it was a disappointment to see him awake.
“I’m fine. But remind me to never order food from that place again.” She pouted, normally a rare sight of her when out but a normal thing to do when it was just the two of them. Her side of the bed was still warm, probably because he made sure it remained that way, but instead of going straight to bed as she anticipated, Miran picked her phone up and opened the notepad application. “I really don’t want to go to the hospital but if tomorrow morning I’m not better, I guess, I have no other option.” A low groan escaped her. She didn’t want to lose a whole morning at the hospital when she was needed at the museum, especially when they were receiving a new piece for their collection – from an escort and informer to a museum worker, the turns of life. After typing a little reminder for tomorrow and as she was about to lock her phone so she could go back to bed, a thought crossed her mind.
It was a silly idea, really. Her menstruation had been late before, so it was no big deal. She has been feeling stressed lately, so there was that. And sometimes an indigestion was just that, an indigestion. There was no need to be alarmed. Everything was under control. But for the sake of not freaking out with Seunghyun in the room, she opened this application she had that helped her controlling her menstruation cycle. Mentally speaking, Miran never cursed so much. Time to lock her phone, go back to bed and try not to overthink it.
A quick breath after and she was sitting on bed, her fingertips brushing the skin of his cheek. “You should try and go back to sleep. You have to wake up early as well, don’t you?” Miran leaned in and kissed him goodnight, the warmth of his lips helping a bit with the anxious feeling that grew in her stomach, now for a different reason. For once, she wasn’t looking forward for the following day.
Ah. It had been the food. That made sense, he supposed. They were taking a risk, after all, in order sushi to eat at home. It wasn’t as fresh as if they’d just sat down at a nice restaurant and ate there, but they’d been in the mood for both sushi and time spent at home alone. As such, that had been their only real option. He’d have to keep in mind that it was better to just wait for another night to eat sushi rather than ordering something quickly made (possibly even something that had been sitting out a while? they couldn’t know) to take home with them.
He, however, wasn’t having any issues with his stomach. The fact that Miran was the only one experiencing any issues was a little odd, perhaps, but he shouldn’t really think twice about it... right? Maybe her stomach was a little weaker than his. That could be it. People didn’t always have to react the same way to the same foods. Though if it was something as awful as food poisoning, then he would have likely ended up with it too. And with as awful as she’d been feeling it seemed like it had to be something pretty severe...
He watched her check her phone, typing something out. He didn’t question it. She was probably just checking her schedule for tomorrow of something. Suddenly having to schedule in a hospital visit would definitely throw off her day. And Seunghyun would gladly let it do the same to his. If Miran was still feeling this terrible tomorrow then... “I do. But I think I’ll call off tomorrow. I’d rather go with you.” He would feel much better if he could drive her there, maybe provide some comfort if she started feeling unwell on her way to the hospital or back home. He really didn’t want her going alone if he didn’t have to. Of course Seunghyun also knew that Miran wouldn’t want to bother him with this. She could take care of herself. The look she gave him when he suggested going with her suggested these were things she might be thinking. He placed his hand over hers, “I only had one morning class tomorrow and nothing for the rest of the day. It won’t be the end of the world if I ask someone else to cover it for me. Besides, I want to be with you. If you’re still not feeling well then I’d like to stay home and take care of you. I know you don’t need me to, but I want to.” He offered a little pout, hoping it would be enough to convince her to let him come along. He wasn’t anticipating that she would have something severely wrong with her or anything, but that didn’t mean he was okay with abandoning her while she was sick, even if it was only for a few hours. Work could wait, “Are you feeling okay enough to sleep? I could stay up with you if you’d like.”
