The NSSHLA website is confusing me... Can anyone explain to me how the membership works? Do I need to wait until September to pay? Does it only start on January 1st or will the membership be effective immediately?
Here are the details for registering for the convention! Prices, dates, and events. You even get a discounted rate if you're a NSSHLA Member/Student!
Hope to see you there, speechies!

The speaker who was representing the Helen Keller National Center was wonderful. She showed us a lot of the tools deaf-blind youth and adults to be able to live independently. Her strength and openness was beautiful. It's not easy to talk about devastation that way. One thing she said that struck me as just plain excellent: "Sometimes I feel like God blessed me. I don't really have to see or hear all the craziness of the world." Just wow. How's that for optimism/perspective?
Another nice thing was that I had one of those "what a small world" incidents where I met another communication disorders major who happened to not go to my high school, but to I.C.E. High School, which was located in the SAME BUILDING (on the top floor) of my mine! I feel like I saw her at the open mics. A funny thing she said about my high was: "It was kind of ghetto, wasn't it?" Good call?
Lastly, I found some people to buy my couch that I was going to have to throw out. I'm glad you it has a home now!
