For a moment Reiken stopped in front of the temple. He looked up at the shrines for the sages. There were four. Â
He felt a pang in his chest and immediately looked away. Â
As much as he wanted to go inside and pay his respects too the other Sages. But the moment he steps in there, they will throw him out again. Ever since his exile, he had not been allowed into any of the temples or the shrines for the sages. Â
He wrung his hands together. Â
Slowly he stepped back, looking down at the ground. Slowly he pulled his cloak's hood over his head, pulling the cloak tighter around his shoulders. He sniffed and quickly started walking again. Â
Maybe he should just go back to the village. Â
There wasn't anything for him here. He shook his head slightly as he quickly made his way away from the temple. There was nothing left for him to do here.Â
If he stayed any longer he would get into trouble. He stared down at the ground as he kept on walking. Folding his hands together, he tried to make sure not to draw much attention. He coughed, shivering slightly as he kept on moving. Â
He barely made it a few steps before one of the priests from the temple stepped in front of him, blocking him from going further.
Immediately Reiken's head snapped up. His eyes widened slightly as he stared at the man in front of him.Â
"What are you doing here?" the priest asked, narrowing his eyes at Reiken.
"...I... I'm just.. passing through" Reiken whispered as the man. Â
"You are the exiled" the man said coldly "You are not allowed at the temples. What are you doing here?"
Reiken clenched his jaw. "... I.. Told you... I'm just... passing through... the two.." he stuttered.
"Get out of here" the priest said, glaring at Reiken "before the other sages are notified that you are here"
Stepping back from the man, Reiken just nodded. "...I'm... sorry..." he whispered "I didn't... I don't.... Sorry..."
He quickly stepped back, turned and rushed away from the temple and the priest.

Reiken slowly made his way back to the mountains. It was cold, freezing. He wrapped his arms around himself. For a moment he wanted to use his power to heat himself up, but his wrist throbbed from the bracelet warning him that he'd used too much power. Â
He looked down at the ground as he slowly walked on the hunting trail. It was going to take him a few hours before he'll be back to his cottage. Â
Tired and exhausted, Reiken kept on walking. His feet dragged slightly. Half way back to the cottage, it started raining. Â
Ignoring the rain, Reiken kept on moving. He started shivering as he walked, the rain soaking him through and through. His progress slowed down to a crawl. Â
He was having trouble keeping his eyes open. Â
As he stumbled, sinking down onto the ground. He wrapped his arms around himself, just staying there on the ground, just gasping, staring down at the rain that fell on the ground.
As he just stayed there, he felt empty and alone and just ready to give up on everything. Â
His head hurt so badly.
Home.... He wanted to go home. The exhaustion made him feel even worse than before. Â
His vision darkened around the edges. Â
Clenching his jaw, he struggled to get back onto his feet. The world turned and he stumbled, almost falling over. He caught himself on one of the trees, gasping softly as he just stood there.
Reiken gasped for breath. Â
He slowly pushed himself away from the tree and started stumbling down the hunting trail. Â
It barely took a few minutes, before Reiken collapsed to the ground again. He just lay there, exhausted, unable to force himself to get and keep moving. The rain kept on falling around him. Â
Slowly Reiken started to fade. Â
As he started to come back, the darkness lifted. He could hear the sounds of animals...
No, that was the sound of demons howling. Â
He forced himself to open his eyes. Â
It took him a moment before he realized that the rain has stopped. A cold wind blew, making him shiver and shake. Â
Slowly he pushed himself up. His arms trembled as he got up. The screams and howls of the demons were coming closer and closer. This was bad. He needed to get up. If the demons found him there on the ground, they'd rip him apart.
With shaking legs he started moving again. Â
The sound of the demons came closer. Â
Reiken clenched his jaw as he drew his sai daggers. His hands trembled as water dripped from his hair. Â
It took a while before he managed to figure out where the demons were coming from. He froze where he stood. It sounded like they were making their way towards the village. Â
He couldn't allow them to go there. Â
Clenching his jaw, he started running towards the village. He gasped as he ran, the edges of his vision going in and out of focus. If he had to fight, he wasn't sure he'd be able to do it. Â
But he'll be damned if he lets the demons attack the people. Â
He reached for his power, allowing the wind to help him move faster. Â
When he reached the edge of the village he stopped. He gasped for breath, eyes searching for where the demons might be.
It took a while before he managed to find the demons. There were already some of them in the village. He felt his heart sinking. Immediately he ran towards the village. He could feel the bracelet around his wrist burning again. Â
As he entered the village, the first thing he saw was one of the demons stalking one of the villagers. Â
Reiken clenched his jaw against the pain in his wrist. He reached for his power. Fire leapt up around his hand. With a shout, he launched at the demon. Â
He grabbed the demon, the fires around his hands burning the creature. A high pitched scream sounded from the demon as it was thrown away from the villager. Â
Immediately his power flickered out and he sank to his knees wheezing, gasping for breath. Â
"Run..." he whispered to the villagers, he did not recognize the person "...Go.... run away...."
The person stumbled, before turning and running away. Â
Reiken took a deep breath, as he turned, looking around. The rain started falling again, making him shiver. Â
He bit his lip as he looked for the rest of the demons. Â
It didn't take him very long before he managed to get rid of all of the demons coming down from the mountain. It was strange that the demons were coming down. They usually wouldn't do it so quickly or so suddenly.Â
As he killed the last of the demons, he sank down to the ground, trying to catch his breath.Â
This was bad.Â
He did not have the energy left to move, but he wanted to go back home. He wanted to go to the cottage.Â
Slowly he got back onto his feet. For a moment he swayed slightly. Then he started stumbling forward, heading towards the trail up the mountain. All he could focus on was putting one foot in front of the other.
The Priest's words echoed in his mind. Â
He was an exile. He shouldn't be at the village. They don't need him. He was just a... an exile. He didn't deserve all of the kindness they've shown him.
Slowly he started up the road. Â
He barely made it two steps, before his knees buckled and crumbled to the ground. Â
He just lay there on the ground, barely conscious. He was barely aware of the rain that fell around him. Slowly he started to fade, closing his eyes. He did not have any strength left anymore. Â
Voices reached him, but he couldn't make out what was being said. Â
He ignored the voices, letting the darkness take him. There was no reason for him to keep on fighting to stay awake.Â
***
Reiken slowly started opening his eyes. Â
Surprisingly enough he stared up at the ceiling. He wasn't sure where he was, since he did not recognize the place. Â
Wincing, he slowly sat up. Â
Immediately his body complained about the movement. He pushed the pain to the back of his mind. Â
Before he managed to make his way to the door, it opened.
Gruen peered into the room, his eyes widened slightly as he noticed Reiken on his feet.Â
"Wow.... hold on there..." he said quickly, stepping into the room "What are you doing?"
Reiken flinched and stared at Gruen.
Behind Gruen, Hein also came into the room. Â
For a moment Reiken just stared at the two, before his knees buckled and he crumbled to the ground.
Gruen cussed as he shot forward, trying to catch Reiken. He managed to stop him from hitting his head. Hein immediately came to help. Carefully the two of them lifted Reiken onto the bed. Â
Hein placed his hand against Reiken's forehead. "Shit... his fever is back" he said.
Reiken whimpered softly, his eyes flickering open for a moment, looking confused. Â
"Rei... It's alright... we're here.... You're not alone" Gruen said before nodding to Hein "Get the girls... Tell them to bring the medicine and some cool water"
Hein nodded. "I'll get some extra blankets as well," he said, before leaving the room.
Gruen turned back to Reiken. "Rei.... We found you outside the village, bleeding and unconscious" he said "Just take it easy... We'll take care of you. So don't worry about it"
Reiken slowly turned his head towards Gruen, his vision slipped out of focus as he shivered.
"...Sorry..." he whispered. Â
"It's alright..." Gruen said.
After a few more minutes, Hein, Leia and Saffron came into the room. Â
"Hey... You're awake" Leia said quickly walking over to the bed. Â
Saffron and Hein carried the medicine and a bowl with water. Â
Reiken jumped slightly, but did not have the energy to move. He just stared at them, confused. Â
Quickly Hein went through the medicine before mixing some in a cup. "Here... help him drink this.." he said "It should help with with the fever"
Leia took the cup, as Gruen helped Reiken to sit up. Â
Reiken slowly drank the medicine, coughing softly before Gruen let him lay back down. Immediately Leia placed the cool cloth on Reiken's forehead. Â
Saffron gently took Reiken's hand as she started replacing the bandage around his wrist. The burns looked terrible, but treatable. The rest of his injuries were cuts and bruises and bites. Â
All of them were from the demons. Â
"You're going to be alright" Hein said "We're here... We wouldn't let you be alone now..."
Reiken's eyes flickered open for a moment. A slight smile formed on his face, before he fainted again.
Kade could feel the light burning his eyes again. The pain ripped through his head. With a scream, he shot up from the bed. Hands caught his shoulders and stopping him from falling of the bed. Â
âKade... stop! Itâs alright, calm down...â a voice called out. Â
He struggled against the hands, unable to see anything around him. Everything was dark. He couldnât see. Everything was gone. Panic started to rise in his chest. He couldnât breath. Couldnât see. He was trapped, caught again. Â
âKade!â the voice snapped and Kade froze, gasping for breath âItâs alright... Please calm down!â
That was Killianâs voice. Â
Kade froze, his hands gripping the arms of the person that held his shoulders, tightly. He felt lightheaded. Â
âCome on, Kay, you need to breath... Slowly and deepâ Killianâs voice said.
Slowly the pain in his head and chest slowly reduced. He slumped to the side and Killian caught him. Â
âEasy now...â Killian said quietly âItâs alright, man....  Youâre at the academy hospital... Itâs okayâ
Kade started trembling. He reached for the shadows around him, but they wouldnât answer his call and the panic rose in his chest again.  âI.... I.... I....â he stuttered panicked.
âKade, deep breaths... come on donât panic now...â Killian said âItâs alright, you hear me?â
âBut I....â Kade started, before whispering âCanât see...â
He felt Killian hand on his face. Â
âThereâs bandages, Kadeâ Killianâs voice said âThey are over you eyes. Do you remember what happened?â
Kade struggled to get his breathing back under control, before he nodded.  âI... rememberâ he whispered.Â
Gently Killian let him lay back on the bed.  âKay... Itâs alright... The doctors will do what they can for you and weâll get Vynal to take a look, maybe he can do something?â
âOkay...â Kade muttered, he put his hands over his ears. The sounds of the hospital room, felt like it was echoing in his head. Â
âKey...â Killian said quietly âIs the sounds to loud for you?â
Kade nodded slightly. His head felt like it was going to explode. Â
âIâll get your earphones from the dorm, alrightâ Killian said softly âJust hold on for a little longerâ
***
Bell opened the door and walked over to where Kade sat on the bed. There was still bandages over both his eyes. Â
He was pale and barely said a word to anyone. Â
âKey?â Bell said softly as she walked up to him, sitting down on the bed. Â
He nodded, turning his head towards her.  âBella?â he said quietly, wringing his hands together.
Bell smiled and brushed his hair back. Itâs grown longer than before, hiding his face slightly.  âHow are you feeling today?â she asked softly, keeping her voice down, not to make him uncomfortable. Â
âMy head hurtsâ Kade said quietly.
âDid you tell the doctor?â
Kade shook his head slightly. Â
âWhy not?â
âThey are to loud...â Kade muttered, flinching when the door opened. Â
Bell looked over before turning her attention back to Kade, putting her hand against his cheek.  âItâs the doctor, Keyâ she said gently, âThey are taking the bandages of today... Remember?â
Kade nodded slightly.  âI rememberâ he said, before hesitating âDid... find Vynal again?â
âIâm sorry Kayâ Bell said âBut after he healed you, he was called awayâ
The doctor walked over and stopped next to the bed.  âHow are you feeling today, Mister Delroy?â he asked as he started going through Kadeâs file and checking his vitals. Â
Kade just stayed motionless as the man worked.Â
âAre you ready for the bandages to come off?â the doctor asked.Â
âYeah, whateverâ Kade said. Â
The doctor nodded and slowly started taking the bandages of. Kadeâs hands clenched into fists, but he did not stop. As the bandages fell away, Kade just kept his eyes closed. Â
There was a white scare going over his right eye. It covered his entire eye, going slightly up towards his forehead and down to his cheek bone. The eye was a pale barely noticeable green when it was open. Theyâve seen it before. Â
âOpen your eyes, Mister Delroyâ the doctor said. Â
Slowly Kade opened his eyes. Immediately he noticed the difference in his sight. Â
âFollow the lightâ the doctor said.
Kade barely reacted, he could notice the light out of the corner of his eye, but that was it. The moment the doctor shone his pen light into Kadeâs other eye, his hissed and pulled away. His shadows surged. Â
Bell quickly got up and pulled the curtains closed. Â
Kade pressed his hands over his eyes.  âDonât!â he snapped.
The doctor pulled back and nodded.  âWe will do an examination later todayâ he said âTo make sure that everything is alright, before releasing youâ
bell frowned at the man.  âYou are going to release him?â she asked shocked âItâs only been a day! How can you know that heâs alright?â
âWe donât have to time to take care of patients that donât belong in the hospitalâ the man said before turning and leaving the room.
Bell clenched her hands into fists.  âThose bastards...â she snapped.
Kade closed his eyes for a moment.  âItâs alrightâ he said âIâm used to itâ
âWell you should have to beâ Bell said âCome on... Do you want to go back to the dorms?â
âWhy not...â Kade muttered âItâs not like anyone will be of help hereâ
Bell sighed.
Kade slowly got to his feet. For a moment he swayed slightly, before catching the bed, so until his balance returned. Â
âKay...â Bell said softly âAre you sure?â
âIâm not staying hereâ he said stubbornly.
Bell sighed and nodded.  âAlrightâ she said gently âLetâs go homeâ
Before they could start moving, the door opened again and Killian walked into the room. The other guy blinked at Kade and Bell before he sighed. Â
âWhat are you doing?â he asked as he walked over.
âGoing back to the dormsâ Bell said with an annoyed expression âThe doctors are being assholes againâ
Killian sighed and nodded.  âAlright, letâs go thenâ he said.
Kade slowly walked over to Killian, he almost looked slightly off balance. Killian placed a hand on his shoulder.Â
âAre you sure about this?â he asked. Â
Kade just nodded, looking down at the ground.  âI donât want to be here, Killâ he said âThey make the lights to bright and thereâs to much noise...â
Killian sighed and nodded.  âAlright... Letâs go thenâ
They left the room. Killian stayed next to Kade, to make sure his friend didnât walk into anything, since it didnât look like he was paying much attention to anything around him.Â
And twice he walked into something that he did not see on his right side. Â
âI can feel them staring...â Kade muttered, lifting his head, narrowing his eyes at the next group of people that stared at him.
Killian sighed and shook his head.  âYou are a terrorâ he said âThey are staring, because you are walking around in PJâs. Thatâs whyâ
Kade grumbled under his breath.  âIf I want to walk around like that, itâs none of their businessâ he said âThey should just go awayâ
âYouâre an idiotâ
âAnd you are annoyingâ
âDumbassâ
âThatâs enough you twoâ Bell said, putting a hand on each of their shoulders âCut it out... Kay, we need to stop at the pharmacy to get your medicineâ
Kade cussed.  âI donât like the medicine.... It makes me feel numbâ he said.
âYou have to drink it, Kayâ Bell said gently.
âI know...â Kade said.
They slowly made their way to the pharmacy, got the medicine and started to head back to the dorms. Â
As they walked Kadeâs breathing started to speed up, his started blinking rapidly at the bright lights of the hospital, the sound bombarded his mind, making the pain in his head even worse than before.
âKade?â Bell asked gently when Kade flinched at a trolley being pushed, his shoulder slamming into the wall next to him.
Killian caught Kadeâs shoulders, holding him steady.  âEasy now....â he muttered âJust hold on a little longer then weâll be out of hereâ
Kade nodded.  âSorry...â he muttered.
âIs everything alright, here?â a new voice asked and Kade went motionless. Â
For a moment he just stared ground before he looked up.
Ray stood in front of them. There was a worried look on the manâs face as he watched them. Â
Kade just stared at him.  â..dad...â he muttered before flinching at the pain in his head â... what are you... doing here?â
Ray frowned.  âI was called when you were brought inâ he said.
An alarm went of in the hall. The sound tore through Kadeâs head. With a yell, he sank to his knees, hands going to his ears. Pain made his vision go white. he could hear Killian and Bellâs voices. Â
Killian caught Kadeâs shoulders, before he could collapse to the ground. His friend hard gone completely pale, shaking as he pressed his hands over his ears. Â
Bell quickly knelt next to Kade, pulling him into her arms, holding her hands over his ears as well. Â
âWhatâs going on?â Ray asked as he also knelt next to the young man. Â
âItâs a sensory overloadâ Killian said with a cuss âItâs never been this bad before... The injury must have effected himâ
Ray frowned slightly before patting his pocket and pulled out a pair of earphones.  âWill these help?â he asked, holding them out to Killian âIâve been carrying these with me, not sure why...â
Killianâs eyes widened.  âPerfectâ he said, recognizing the earphones in the manâs hand. It was the same kind that Kade kept in him room, the noise cancelling type. Just what they needed right now. Â
He pulled out his phone, took the earphones from Ray and pressed play before handing them over to Bell.
The girl quickly took it from Killian, gently pulling Kadeâs hands away a bit, before putting the earbuds in his ears. Immediately he put his hands back over his ears, eyes shut tightly. Â
Bell just hugged him to her, gently rubbing his back. Her long curly deep red hair fell over her shoulder. Â
âDoes this happen often?â Ray asked, gently. Â
Killian sighed and shook his head.  âNo... He mostly has it under controlâ he said âBut if he gets to much light and sounds gets to loud, it can trigger himâ
âAs I understand things, he just woke upâ Ray said, sounding slightly angry.
âYes he didâ Killian said, clenching his jaw âThe doctors here doesnât like him... So they want him out of hereâ
Ray frowned dangerously.  âSo they are just... letting him go?â he asked âWithout making sure heâs alright and ready to leave?â
Killian nodded.  âHe has to go come in again for and examination later todayâ he said quietly âNot that I think they will do much except tell us what we already knowâ
Bell just glanced at the two, rocking Kade as his breathing slowly calmed down. He was still trembling. She put a gentle hand against his face, checking to make sure he did not have a fever. Â
âKillâ she said softly âItâs to bright here for him... The light is hurting himâ
Ray shrugged of the coat he was wearing. He knelt next to Kade and Bell, throwing it over Kadeâs shoulders and head.
Immediately Kadeâs body relaxed slightly and his breathing calmed down. He leaned slightly against Bell, still shaking.
âLetâs get him back to your dormsâ Ray said.
Killian sighed.  âHeâs not going to move until the attack calms downâ he said.
Ray shook his head.  âIâll carry himâ he said, âWe cannot let him stay like thisâ
The other two nodded. Carefully Ray picked Kade up. The teen was all but unconscious in his arms. His face was pale, almost blending with the scar over his eye.
When they reached Kadeâs dorm room, Bell pulled all the curtains closed. The room was immediately plunged into darkness. Â
Carefully Ray placed Kade on the bed before turning to Killian.  âIs there anything else he needs?â he asked.
âTimeâ Killian said âWeâre all helpless when this happensâ
Ray looked back at the young man on the bed. This was the first time he saw him after taking the boy to Grainâs place. He still could not remember the boy, but he knew that he was right.
âHey, come on Nova, we need to be on our wayâ Gale said, leaning against the door post.
Nova looked up from where he sat on the bed between scattered photos, papers and books. He blinked at Gale before narrowing his eyes, glanced back at the stack of papers in front of him before groaning and getting up. Â
âFine...â he said, jumping of the bed âWhat time is it?â
Gale glanced down at his watch.  âNine thirtyâ he said, âYouâve been up all nightâ
Nova cussed under his breath before nodding.  âThanksâ he said sarcastically âI wouldnât have guessed thatâ
âTone down with the sarcasm, Novâ Gale said.
âWhy?â Nova asked âItâs not like you care about itâ
âDad is down stairsâ
Nova froze in his track.  âWhat?â he asked slowly. Â
âDad in down stairs, waiting for usâ Gale said again, watching Nova carefully.
After a moment of silence, Nova took a deep breath and nodded.  âHe picked the job?â he asked, voice flat.
Gale nodded.  âMax is already down stairsâ he said when Nova still hesitated. Â
Nova growled something that Gale couldnât understand and made his way down stairs. Â
âPlease donât do anything stupidâ Gale said.
âWouldnât dream of itâ Nova said voice emotionless and cold. Â
They havenât seen their father in months, but it shouldnât have surprised them that he showed up now. Since Nova will be turning 16 in a few weeks. Their farther would probably take control of awakening Novaâs feline side. Itâs going to be rough, Nova and Lucasâ relationship has been strained since their father started training Max.
The poor kid was only 11 years old and he was coming back home every time with bruises all over him.
Gale didnât think heâd ever seen Nova that furious before. Â
Nova stopped at the bottom of the stairs, eyes narrowed at the man in front of him before flickering towards Max. His little brother stood against the wall, arms crossed, staring out at nothing. Â
âLucasâ Nova said.
Lucas nodded.  âItâs time for training, Dominicâ he said.
Max flinched slightly, but didnât say anything. Â
Nova shook his head.  âNoâ he said âHeâs not going with you. If anyone is going to take care of his training it will be me and Gale, not youâ
Lucas looked at him with a raised eyebrow.  âIs that so?â he asked âAre you going to take his place in the training, because there are still things that even you and Gale doesnât knowâ
Max pushed himself away from the wall, walking over to Nova. Â
The moment he came within reach, Nova grabbed his arm and pulled him behind him.  âStay thereâ he said softly before looking at Lucas âThatâs fine. Iâll continue my training with youâ
Lucas nodded.  âAlright, I will see you...â his eyes flickered towards Gale âAnd you, in the training room in ten minutesâ
Both nodded. Â
***
âIâve encountered a new abilityâ Lucas said as the two brother stopped in front of him âLetâs see how the two of you handle thisâ
Before they could say a word, Gale was assaulted with illusions of his worst nightmares. Nova let out a soft gasp, his eyes going wide, hands trembling. Â
Lucas watched them a slight worried look in his eyes, but his quickly pushed it back. If he didnât get these kids ready to fight, they wouldnât be able to defend themselves against Merico. Â
Gale clenched his jaw, flinching at another illusion that looked so real, it made his heart skip a beat in fright. Â
Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed Nova standing motionless, an expression of pure terror on his face. He wanted to go to him, to make sure that he was alright, but the illusions kept on getting in his way. Â
And it started to hurt fighting of his images. Â
He was sure this was not the final training, there was something much, much worse waiting for them. Especially for Nova, since he went against their father for Max. Â
Without warning the illusions disappeared. Â
Nova gasped, falling down to his knees, one hand clutching his chest. His jaw clenched against the pain that tore through his body. Â
He should have known this would happen. He just didnât think that his father would go this far to punish him. Slowly he looked up at Lucas and nodded. This was better than having Max going through all of this. Â
Lucas studied him for a moment before lifted one hand. Â
Gale stepped forward to stop, what ever attack his father had planned, but then a scream filled the room. His head snapped towards Nova. Â
Nova was holding his head. Again his expression was twisted, this time into one of pain and terror. He sank to his knees, eye shut tightly.
âWhat are you doing?â Gale snapped.
âHe needs to learnâ Lucas said quietly. Â
âLet him go!â
âNoâ
Gale felt the fury rushing through him. His power burned in him.  âLet him goâ he said slowly, through clenched teeth. Â
âGale...â Lucas said âDo not interfere in thisâ
âThen let my brother go!â Gale snarled, his hands clenched into fists as he slowly walked towards Lucas. Â
The screams from Nova did not stop. They echoed in his head, he would never be able to get his brotherâs scream out of his head. It would haunt him for the rest of his life. Â
When Lucas shook his head again, Gale lost it. Â
He shot forward. Power exploded through him. His fist connected with Lucasâ jaw, throwing the man back. Â
Lucas crashed into the wall behind him, small cracks appearing in the plaster. Â
Gale stood there, gasping for breath. It took him a moment before he realized that the screaming stopped. Â
For a moment he just stood there, watching his father before he quickly turned around, searching for Nova.
He just froze. Â
Nova had scrambled back, his back against the wall, knees pulled up against his chest, head in his hands. The teen was trembling, sobs ripping through his chest. Â
Gale clenched his jaw and walked over to Nova, kneeling in front of his power. Â
âNova?â he asked softly, not touching his brother yet. Â
A shiver ran through Nova and he slowly lifted his head. He was shaking, trying to calm his breathing.
Gale relaxed his shoulders slightly and managed a slight smile for his brother.  âHey...â he said softly âItâs alright, kiddoâ
âI...  Iâm....â Nova shook his head and hugged his knees to his chest. Â
âItâs alright. Itâs over nowâ Gale said, putting a hand on Nova dark blond hair. Â
Another sob ripped through Novaâs chest, his hands clenching into fists. Â
Gale took a deep breath before looking at Lucas, who was getting to his feet.  âIf you ever do anything like this to him againâ he said voice low and dangerous âI will never forgive you and rip you to piecesâ
Lucas nodded, but Gale could have sworn that there was a slight smile on his face. Â
With that Gale turned back to his brother.  âCome on, Damiâ he said softly âWeâre done hereâ
Nova just shook his head refusing to move. Â
Gale sighed, just gently stroking Novaâs hair until his brotherâs breathing became more even as calmed down slightly. Â
A shiver ran through Novaâs body. Â
Shaking his head, Gale gently scooped up Nova. His brother felt light. It wasnât that Nova was big, but heâs been growing taller. Gale was 1.7 and Nova was quickly catching up to him, already at 1.68 at 16. Â
âSorry...â Nova muttered, his eyes slowly flickering close. Â

Gale clenched his jaw as he carried Nova back to his room. He gently placed Nova on the bed. Â
Knocking sounded from the door. Â
âNova? Gale?â a small voice asked. Â
Gale flinched slightly, turning towards the door.  âMax?â he asked âDo you want to come in?â
The door creaked open and the same dark blond hair as Nova, peered into the room, followed by big dark blue eyes. The eleven year old boy, slipping into the room. Â
âHey, buddyâ Gale said âYou alright?â
Max nodded, his eyes flickering towards Nova. Â
âHeâs alrightâ Gale said âJust tired. Thatâs allâ
âThis is my faultâ Max said âI should have just gone with Dadâ
âIt is not your fault, Maxâ Gale said sternly âNova wanted to do this, no one made him do anything he didnât want toâ
Max clenched his jaw.  âCan I stay here?â he asked slowly.
Gale smiled slightly and nodded. He motioned Max to come over and picked up his brother.  âDonât wake him up, you hear me?â he said.
âI knowâ Max said, slightly annoyed âNow put me down. Iâm not a baby anymoreâ
Gale snorted.  âSorry buddy, you are still the baby of the familyâ he said, putting Max on the bed âDumbassâ
Max scrambled over the bed towards Nova.  âDouchebagâ he snap back at Gale, sticking out his tongue.Â
âRicky...â Nova muttered.
âI didnât wake him upâ Max said quickly. Â
Gale rolled his eyes.  âDonât worry about itâ he said âNova, get some sleepâ
Novaâs eyes flickered open and he just curled up on his side. Max grabbed the blanket that lay at the foot of the bed before pulling over his brother. Â
When Nova woke up again, he just slowly sat up, blinking at everything around him. He pressed a hand against his head as he remembered what happened. That was not one of his best moments and he did not want to experience that again. Â
As he pushed the memories back, he got up. Â
Before he could take two steps the bedroom door opened and Max came in, softly closing the door behind him. Â
âMax?â he asked.
The boy jumped and spun around, his eyes going wide. Â
âDami!â he called out and ran over, hugging Nova tightly âYouâre awakeâ
Nova frowned slightly, but petted the blond hair.  âYou alright?â he asked before receiving a glare from Max âWhat did I do?â
âYou are a bloody assholeâ the boy said, pulling away from Nova âI can take care of myself, you and Gale donât have to protect meâ
Nova snorted and shook his head.  âWeâll stop the day you can beat us in a fair fightâ he said.
