good no words or bad no words?

hoo boy.

so when i first saw the trailer for /scorpion or \scorpion or whatever, i thought, yep, typical anti-establishment hackers and their totally inaccurate hacking scenes - furiously typing words on microsoft word or excel or whatever hackers use, with the letters projected on your face when in reality, hacking is just sitting and going "hmm? i wonder if...." (not that i've tried it mind you)

and so i watched the first few minutes, and yup, okay, we had the incredibly handsome, protagonist of the show geek and he has trouble communicating feels b/c he only understands machines and the human calculator w/ no social skills whatsoever and ooh, mechanical prodigy happy quinn is really good (like a female tony stark) and there's the waitress who reminds me of penny whateverherlastnameisohwaitshedoesn'thave one from the big bang theory and who doesn't know what are computer????!

and yup, there's furious typing (on vmware?? how much did they pay for product placement?) but no hologram letters on your face and thats good. ok, this seems like a nice show.

and then the plane scene happens. 

okay, so basically LAX does a software upgrade and their entire communication system shuts down. 

really.

and there's a backup of every communication system program on every plane.

really. 

and 200 planes are going to crash if no one does anything. GASP.

So they the decide ieboot from a backup version ("yes that is the ACTUAL SUPER ELITE HIGH TECH THING HE'S DOING"). and how are they going to do that? they need to download it from one of the planes,

BUT OH WAIT CONVENIENT PLOT TWIST! THE PLANE'S WIFI DOESN'T WORK

and so what do you use instead?

a fucking ethernet cable

THEY USE AN ETHERNET CABLE DANGLED OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE PLANE AND PLUGGED INTO HIS LAPTOP.

and the only way you can do this fly the plane low over the car that is racing ON THE LANDING STRIP and make the pilot get the ethernet cable that's connected directly to the body of the plane and then plug it to the laptop all the while the plane and the car is racing at 150 miles plus.

but hey, at least he gets the girl right? (in the end)
