Chad Belmont had seen better days. It wouldn't seem it from appearances alone, but he was once the hero of two worlds. When he was a teenager, he was Captain S: Video Defender. He saved the world of videogames and humans multiple times. He opened his laptop, drinking a cup of coffee as he turned it on. He remembered those days fondly. He had done so much, but now? No, he was just a cubicle dweller, playing Sonic the Hedgehog on a secondhand 3DS and wishing he was a teenage hero once again.
He began to surf the internet the moment the aging laptop was turned on. The news sites kept talking about stock options and boring things. That wasn't Chad's style. He went on to YouTube and began to watch the Game Grumps play some Sonic Boom. It hurt that SEGA and Sonic Team has stooped so low, but he smiled at the jokes the two Grumps made. He had become a fan of the channel, but they hadn't posted in a long time. He couldn't help but wonder why.
Unbeknowest to Chad Belmont, his time to be a hero would come again, and it would come sooner than he thought.

Arin heard the phone ringing and let out a low groan. He quickly rolled over so that he was on his side and facing his nightstand. He needed to get to the phone before it woke Suzy up. He’d never hear the end of it if that was what she emerged from sleep to.

It was unusual for Dan to call this late on off nights. Arin was a little worried. “Hey, man,” He started in a hushed tone, “Are you alright? I mean, shit, it’s two in the morning.” He said after eyeing the clock.
