so sick of the toxic transmedicalist bullshit
like iām about as binary masc presentation as you can get, but more because i donāt want the hassle thatās associated with presenting otherwise than because i believe in it (sidenote: beards make a great sensory fidget toy)
but i didnāt have hugely significant dysphoria, so i guess that makes meĀ ātucuteā
and when you point that out to them theyāre just likeĀ āoh no we donāt mean you, we just mean the ones who wear dressesā
so it just becomes increasingly clear that when they sayĀ āyou need dysphoria in order to be transā they actually meanĀ āyou need to conform to gender rolesā
my drug of choice? cancelling social events
So youāre saying that if I as a lesbian would date both cis and trans girls, yet only have sex with cis girls and trans girls who had bottom surgery Im not necessarily transphobic? Honestly thats such a relief to me, Ive been worried that Im subconsciously a terf on some level and have even been looking for terms other than lesbian to call myself (since I honestly define my sexuality more by āId never have intercourse with someone has a dickā than Im into to girlsā), so this is kinda relieving.
IMO, as a trans guy, thatās not necessarily transphobic because youāre not ruling out all trans women - youāre just not comfortable with having sex with someone with a certain kind of genitalia, which is fine. And youāre not making assumptions about what genitalia a trans person might have.
Having said that, your sexual behaviour & your sexuality may not be entirely the same thing. Iām not going to label you, but you might want to consider whether or not you can be attracted to trans men and non-binary people, and whether or not youāre attracted to trans women w/ penises (you just may not want to engage in sexual behaviour with them as you may be penis averse?).
Also you can date someone and not have sex with them, or if you want to have sex you can work around the genitalia issue (a lot of the time trans people have issues with their genitalia or want to have sex differently than a cis person would so it can be worth exploring if you like someone).
Itās something for you to think about - but no, genital preference or aversion is not, in itself, transphobic and I think the discussions around this sort of gets misinterpreted.
What IS transphobic is the following:
1) Assuming trans peopleās genitalia.
2) Ruling out dating trans people as a WHOLE, not as a singular.Ā
- For example,Ā āI donāt date trans people because Iām not attracted to themā is a transphobic statement.
-Ā āI donāt want to date Greg because Iām not attracted to him.ā is not a transphobic statement, even if Greg happens to be a trans person.
But honestly, it would be nice if every discussion regarding attraction to trans ppl didnāt boil down to our genitalia.
my generation must be so difficult to market at, because if i look at something on Amazon that i was GOING to buy, and then Amazon e-mails me about that item, or it appears on ads, i will not buy it out of sheer spite

The US president retweets three inflammatory videos from far-right group, Britain First.
In the video he retweeted, the perpetrator isn't even a fucking Muslim. Check dutch media. Fake news.
The account he just retweeted three times is that of the deputy leader of Britain First who has been charged for verbally attacking a woman (in front of her kids, for being Muslim).
Britain First is a tiny, largely ignored, deeply hateful and racist group who tweet videos of brown people celebrating winning cricket matches with captions implying they're cheering terrorism (fake news).
The only member of parliament murdered in Britain since the height of the IRA troubles of the 80s, was MP Jo Cox who in 2016 was shot and stabbed by a supporter of Britain First, shouting "Britain First".
As useless as this feels to write, the United States President sets the tone, not just in the US, but his sentiment is heard and echoes across the globe. He is emboldening bigots everywhere. This tacit approval, this promotion of people preying on legitimate fears and concerns is not ok. It cannot become the new normal.
By all means have grown-up conversations about the reality of the present day, about integration, rate of migration, radicalisation, isolation etc,
But Trump, Trump is simply inciting hatred. Undiscerning emotional, rage and hatred. We already have a massive spike in hate crimes in the UK. This is fucked up.
ok i guess iāll go for the extra game then... thanks Steam
how do you feel about the butch he/him lesbians who have dysphoria but decline to call themselves trans? ive seen this a couple times on my dashboard
iāve seen this too, sadly more in radfem circles though? i have unfortunately seen this sometimes used to imply that trans people can choose not to transition or to imply that transitioning is theĀ āeasy way outā
to answer your question, gender dysphoria as a diagnosis is specifically about trans people (you do not have to have gender dysphoria to be trans, but medically you do need to be trans to have gender dysphoria)
but i guess it gets murkier when weāre coming outside of diagnosis criteria and just talking about peopleās experiences
if thatās what they experience then iām not going to deny them that - they know how they feel a lot better than iĀ know how they feel!
