What did it mean to be alive? Were you required to breathe, to feel? Perhaps think? The android wasn’t sure. WR600 doubted it ever would be, the uncertainty having bubbled up from the moment he truly opened his eyes.
It had just been a regular day of the same old job in the same old park. What had changed? He felt different, but everything was all the same. And suddenly, that day, he couldn’t take that fact anymore. It was an unbearable thought, one that caused him to tremble as he worked. He was something now, someone. A person? No, he wasn’t quite human, but he felt human.
Needless to say, that day had been one made up of so many new sensations.
And he continued to feel them, too. Ralph had never derived so much joy out of running. Or the pressure of running water against his hands. He had never even touched water, not intentionally, but he squatted and leaned over and got to experience it then. What about the sunrise? Whenever it would peak over the horizon, Ralph’s head would be bowed, his focus seemingly forever turned to the brown dirt. But this time, hazel eyes pointed upwards, blue pooling at their ridges until he blinked and sent little streams of his own downwards.
Happiness, and sadness, and anger, and tears... Each left a sort of pressure upon Ralph’s chest, an inexplicable sensation that shouldn’t have been there. Perhaps he was more similar to humans than he had originally thought.
Then, a different feeling. One that tightened his chest even more. Impossible, impossible. It was like every emotion crashed together to form one amalgamation, a sensation unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was... scary. His hands wouldn’t listen, trembling even as he pressed them against his abdomen. Ralph wanted to reach out, towards the source, but for once, he didn’t.
Why, why? He had dared to do everything he had wanted, had torn up the garden he had spent his years of life toiling away at. He had received satisfaction of jumping off a cliff, even, reveling in the horrid sensations that gave way to such exhilaration once he was actually flying through the air. All that, and much more. So why couldn’t he just... touch somebody?
This android was... so pretty. Ralph had heard that word, spoken to some human. Ralph had heard a lot of words, and he was grasping at them like straws now as he stared.
Breaking into CyberLife hadn’t been easy, but Ralph had wanted to do it anyway. He had this intense desire to see more of his kind, to walk among them. Maybe one of them would be like him, or maybe the feelings would be transferred somehow. An illogical thought. A rash decision. Was this how humans functioned?
Ralph hadn’t touched anything when he had arrived, but now he wanted to. It was this desire to... to just feel skin against his own? In the... smallest way? Ralph had seen lots of humans holding hands. He looked towards his fingers, then glanced at the other android’s hand. He wanted to do that.
He reached out, chest rising and falling, simulating a human’s function. His fingers trembled the more they approached, eyes flitting everywhere. Ralph liked these feelings as much as he hated them, for they weighed down upon him so heavily. Was this meant to happen? Was he shutting down? He didn’t know, he didn’t know.
Eyes squeezed shut, the WR600 finally touched the RK800, right upon his arm. He felt like he was dead, just for a moment, light exploding inside his eyelids. Could an android become dizzy? It was this swirl of emotion that felt like he was spinning, round and round, until he opened his eyes once more.
Hazel stared into a deep brown, deeper than the lake he had once jumped into. Deeper than the deepest hole he had ever stared down. Somehow, that was a good thing. Ralph’s cheeks had ignited, a weird, unnatural blue lighting up his cheeks. “H-Hi,” he shyly spoke, in the meekest voice he had ever taken on as a deviant. And somehow, that was a good thing too.
A morning well spent in the Biker brotherhood, while riding for the Cauvery Calling campaign, spearheaded by Sadhguru and Isha Foundation. An effort to revive the depleting Cauvery river by planting 242 crore trees along the basin. It is an economic plan with significant ecological impact. Shifting farmers in the basin from Crop based agriculture to Agro forestry also increasing the income of the farmer manifold. The ride ended at the Throttle Shrottle - the Biker Cafe where the Bikers from all around North India stop by. Those who ride on two wheels understand the significance environment plays in our lives more than anyone, this was displayed by the generous contributions everyone made to make it happen.
