"It's nice to meet you, Neytiri." He said it low. Not to her β she had already turned. To the air between them. To the hearth. To the name itself, sitting where she had placed it.

Oh darling donβt you ever grow up @taylorswift
A member asked whether I'd ever write Nothing Has Changed from someone else's POV.
The main story stays in Jake's head β but as oneshots? Oh, absolutely!
So: whose perspective do you want first?
β‘ Neytiri β the stranger who looks at her like he's mourning her, and she doesn't know why
β‘ Tsu'tey β treated with a strange, grieving tenderness by a man who knows how his story ends
β‘ Quaritch β playing against someone who's already seen the board, and no idea why he keeps losing
β‘ Renu β the man who refused to cover his face, and buried his daughter for it βββ Β· β Β·π₯ΈΒ· β Β· βββ Vote below or on my Patreon or Ko-fi! The winner gets written. π

I'm green just like the woods. You're blue just like the ocean. Your colors drown mine out in one fluid motion.
"bbblue" by Olivver the Kid is sung entirely from Jake's POV, and it might be the song that holds all of Nothing Has Changed β the warning he already gave, the corruption he fears, and the fire he'll start rather than lose her again.

Nothing Has Changed - Chapter 12 - The Cost
Then the sky went red.
It came out of the sun the way he had drawn it with his hand β a falling line, faster than the men below could turn their heads to follow it β and at the bottom of the fall Tsu'tey rose against the wind for half a heartbeat and loosed. One arrow. It went home in the tail fan where the blades ran, and the ship's even hum tore open into a shriek of fouled metal. The tail kicked wide. The whole machine slewed in the air, fighting itself, nose dragging up, and then it lost the fight and came down β hard, the way he had promised them it would, slamming into the churned ground in a roar of dust and torn earth that threw the survey teams flat and sent them up running, scattering across the open in every direction.

"My son," he choked, his eyes lifting up to Mo'at, "His name was Neteyam."
Jake did not know how long they sat there, all he knew was he spent it crying, his breaths coming out wrecked and broken, his eyes pressing shut as he bowed over. The heat from the hearth baked into the skin along his back, almost painful, but he didn't care, he didn't move.
He pressed his hand to his chest hard, like he could reach in and wrap his hand around his heart and stop the pain.
Now that the name was out, he could not stop saying it.
Neteyam.
Neteyam.
Neteyam.
Nothing Has Changed - Chapter 9 - Sneak Peek Excerpt
She had set her own work down on the mat beside her and was now reaching across the weave to the arrow he had just laid down. His body stilled, and his hands began their trembling. He had not noticed that they had stopped until now, when they returned. Turning the arrow slowly in her hand, she inspected it from feather to tip. She brought the fletch close to her face. Her eyes narrowed and she slowly brought one of her own arrows up into her other hand, and held his arrow beside one of her own. The two arrows were identical. The same wrap. The same angle. The same closing of the binding over the quill. The same bite at the knot. She turned both arrows once more in her fingers. Then she set her own down. She kept his. "Who taught you?" she said. His jaw worked. "Your hands cannot draw a bow. Yet they can craft an arrow perfectly." She turned his arrow over once more "They craft like mine." He drew a breath in. Another question too small for the answer it required. He looked at the arrow in her hand, and swallowed against the words lodged in his throat. "My wife taught me." Her face did not move. "She must be a great warrior." Her voice had softened β not greatly, but he knew the edges of her voice from years of marriage. They softened now. He looked down. "She was."
