you said there's no reading too much into Look Homeward, so I looked up Asters in my book about the meanings/symbolism/mythology of flowers and it says a few different things, but one of them was that "An ointment made of asters was thought to cure the bite of a mad dog."
Which seems rather interestingly coincidental since A2 is very dog coded and a serial killer 👀

In the Ilana Glazer interview Jacob asks her if she’s more of a Shane or an Ilya and iirc she says she’s more of a Shane and then Jacob says he’s more of a Scott which, I found funny. It does make me appreciate even more how well he brought Shane & Ilya to life because like, Scott Hunter would be looking at those two boys and shaking his head like These Idiots and Jacob’s like, ok yes they are idiots and it’s not how I would go about falling in love but it sure is beautiful to watch! Idk. Something beautiful about that.
