Project: Cardboard
I somewhat tried to keep a journal okay, but yet here I am a month later writing about work I made a month ago. Anyway, I did a cardboard workshop with artist Tom Dale. We made work out of cardboard based on the end result of an absurd game of Chinese whispers. I, as always, didn't know what I was making, so just made shapes and put it together, only using other bits of cardboard (so nothing was glued or taped together), to make a cute character named Mystery (because thats what the theme was). Task two was to swap sculptures with someone and make something new based on their sculpture. A girl named Jiwon got my sculpture and took Mystery apart. I really liked her version, because she took my weird character type sculpture, and created a story around it, like it was from a cartoon. I got Stella’s sculpture, and made a bigger, more cluttered version of to contrast it from her small, geometric sculpture.
