Hm, let's see... I think I need to hear more about Champagne Promises! Please, and thank you! :D
Aw, thank you for the ask!
ooh okay so this one is interesting because I had the idea when I was listening to Champagne Problems in the car at night and honestly? That was a total vibe
But then I thought it would be cool to collab with @theanxiouscupcake and after I messaged her and we started brainstorming we ended up having a BUNCH OF IDEAS about a series of oneshots each based off a taylor swift song from Folklore and Evermore and it turned into a Whole Thing that we'll write, sometime.
Essentially it's gonna be adrinette endgame, ofc, but it starts with a little bit of lukanette with the Champagne Problems fic being about Marinette turning down his proposal. For extra sadness, I thought of doing a short fic based on New Years Day from lukas perspective from right before he proposes which makes the lyric 'please dont, ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognise anywhere' even more painful hehe
Ok wow i just opened my draft doc and?? ok this is sad so here have my notes (i mean its practically a fic in itself but its bullet pointed so. nOTES)
he’s kneeling in front of her, his expression earnest, lips moving though she can’t hear anything through the roaring in her ears. Nausea threatens to overtake her as she thinks no, no, please, not this, anything but this
Luka is looking at her expectantly, ring in hand, and she doesn’t want to look at it-she won’t, but they’re stood by the window and the early morning sunlight filters through the glass, reflecting off the diamond and sending rainbow light across the hardwood floor
In some distant part of her brain, Marinette is glad that he didn’t do this during the party the night before, when she was drunk and might have said yes. But right now her mind is screaming at her, putting things together-how he wanted to go visit Jukeka and his mum later, and-were they in on it? did they know he was planning on doing this? the thought sends her mind spinning.
Luka’s expression is shifting, happiness turning to confusion turning to dawning realisation. He’s rising to his feet, already reaching out for her, his lips forming her name when Marinette backs away, shaking her head, apologies spilling from her lips-though it isn't enough, it will never be enough-before turning tail and fleeing
(She doesn’t think she’ll ever forget the sight of Luka’s heart shattering in his eyes)
