the most interesting part about writing a fangan is getting into Kodaka's mindset and worldview, or at least the Danganronpa mindset and worldview, i.e. that these characters need to be pushed hard to kill each other. they won't just refuse to boof another person for being annoying (understandable) they'll flat out refuse to do much about anyone potentially or certifiably harmful (an interesting choice).

class 77b let Nagito walk free after a brief stint in the island slammer and only Akane got mad enough by chapter 5 to try to brutalize him. even then, when Nagito died, Hajime showed sadness; before that, when Kazuichi expressed annoyance that anyone would care where Nagito had crawled off to (because "it's not like he's our friend"), Sonia told him to shut the fuck up

i am not judging. this is of course the point of Danganronpa, and it's refreshing, but takes a bit of adjustment when you're used to trigger happy fiction (no pun intended). DR begins with the assumption everyone's good or at least decent or at least wants to stay out of trouble
