Whatever the outcome, I am fascinated to see how the show leads up to Rook’s Rest. How they explain that ambush, and how they allowed it to happen. Why do they not know where Aegon and Aemond’s dragons were prior to it? Why does Rhaenys go? Why go with no back-up? It’s literally just her on a dragon burning 800 men. Does she know she’ll die from the outset? Does she go with or without Rhaenyra’s order? With or without asking for other dragons to go with her? Where’s Corlys when this is happening?
I must know! There are so many ways they could play this, tone-wise. Either Rhaenys goes into battle knowing it could be her last, in a bid to offer aid to an ally, or else it’s a big twist tragedy and those two dragons come on the horizon just when Rhaenys thinks she can take back the stronghold. Either Rhaenys goes with her queen’s blessing, or without. With her husband’s knowledge, or without.
