Before you even gave me my gift, I was just thinking about the fact that we’ve known each other for a year, now, and what a strange and wonderful year it has been because of that. Because of you. You have changed my life in ways I did not think it could be changed. Is it cliched to say that you make it feel like a life? This necklace was mine. It was a graduation gift (I always loved the way that rubies and diamonds looked together). It belonged to a woman with a heart that had not yet shattered and stopped beating, a woman with hope and happiness. I’d like it to belong to you. Being near you, knowing you, has made me feel like that woman again, and I’ve felt like, for so long, that she’d been lost to me. So thank you. I find it hard to put such things into words like this, honestly, sincerely, but here I am.
