If a station airs enough of the programming that we distribute, we send them a satellite receiving so they can pick up our signal. Most major stations already have their own receivers, so this is a big help to the little stations that can't really afford it.

This station calls in and says their receiver - which we supplied - has died. This happens, but unfortunately, our engineer (who handles the replacement process) is at NAB and won't be back until later this week. So my boss is the one handling the issue.

He gets off the phone with the station, then takes a look at the station's file. Of the half-dozen or so programs this station was airing to obtain the receiver in the first place, they are currently airing...one.

That...is not enough to warrant a free receiver.

So this guy from the station is bitching about how it's going to cost him SO MUCH MONEY to get tapes shipped out while our engineer is at NAB for four days, and how WE are going to have to find a way to fix THEIR problem, and we're just sitting here bemused because that station is going to end up losing this $$$$$ piece of equipment they've been using illegitimately for years.
