This is not non-binary related, but a lot of people I work with (high schoolers and college-aged people, mostly, which seems to be the age of the majority of my followers, hence the post) donât seem to understand their rights in the workplace in regards to getting paid. (This will be US specific, and also make sure to check on the laws specific to your state, but from my understanding, this is a federal law.)
If there is a meeting that you are required to go to for work, even if youâre not doing your regular job, they still have to pay you. Yes, even if itâs only a meeting because insurance requires it. Yes, even if itâs just sitting around talking. Yes, even if some kind of fun activity is also involved.
I was wondering about this, because my workplace had a mandatory employee meeting, but acted like they didnât have to pay us for it (and we donât get paid for anything not on our time card). This is the advice I got from a now retired corporate lawyer I know-
âIf you are required to attend that meetingâ then your employer is required to pay you your wage rate for the time you spent at the required meeting.â
Also, a few other things I learned as I went through the seemingly legally-iffy things in my workplace rulebook:
If you are paid hourly wages, your employer cannot dock your pay below federal minimum wage.
They must pay you for any time you spend working. If they tell you to come in 15 minutes before your shift to set up, you include those 15 minutes in your hours. If you need to come in earlier to fulfill your job requirements, you include all of that time. This may seem obvious, but workplaces can and do try to convince you to put down less time than you actually worked, especially when youâre new to the workforce.
Not really a law, but unionize! If you arenât able to, at the very least get to know your coworkers and have a good relationship with them- collective bargaining for smaller things doesnât need a union. If your employer is trying to cheat you out of pay or you want something to change, there is strength in numbers when you go to tell them to stop.
Also not a law, but if your employer isnât going to pay you, donât work. One of my workplaceâs rules is that if you show up tardy without letting the manager on duty know beforehand, you will be counted as a no-show (and therefore wonât get paid). In that situation, if theyâre not going to pay you, donât work!
Basically, donât work for free. Your employers will try to get you to do so, donât let them.
Disclaimer: This is not legal advice of any kind and may not be applicable to you. Always check your local laws, and pay attention to anything that seems illegal or legally-iffy in your workplaceâs rules, and research them yourself.
Okay listen up Cis
Bloodhound is non binary. Itâs cannon.
Iâve heard literally SO MANY PEOPLE say âwe donât know their gender!â Like, yes bitch, we do. Theyâre non binary. The creators of Apex said that making Bloodhound non binary was what they wanted and the point from the beginning. What canât you people understand about this?
I know a majority of my followers are younger, and I want yâall to know some things that Iâve mostly learned through either trial and error or time (as always Iâm not a professional anything, take everything with a grain of salt and use good judgment):
Feeling comfortable in your body and being okay with how your body looks takes more than just finding clothes you like. Itâs important to have friends who will appreciate your appearance. Affirmations help, and returning them builds supportive friendships.
Improving your self esteem is part receiving support and part proving your brain wrong. If your brain is telling you that youâre not skilled enough for x, learn how to do x!
You can ask for help with anything. People generally donât want to make your life harder than it has to be, and they will be glad you asked for help. This applies to basically everything.
You will start feeling better about yourself once you gain independence. Youâll be able to figure out who you are without adults watching your every move, and the feeling of freedom that comes with that is wonderful.
A little bit of kindness goes a long way. I know itâs clichĂŠ, but itâs true. If youâre respectful and kind, not only will people be more respectful and kind back, you will also notice more opportunities and connections opening up. People want to do things for people who are nice to them.
Listen to what your body and brain are telling you. Society today encourages us to push ourselves past our limits and then ignore the signs that weâre about to collapse. Please, please donât. If you are tired, rest, take a break. If you need a break from a situation, give yourself permission to step away. If youâve overcommitted, communicate that, and drop some of your commitments.
The chain of command exists up until itâs inconvenient. If something needs to be done, but the person immediately in charge of you refuses to do anything, you can go to the person in charge of them. If you want to do something but canât get permission, go up the chain. If someone is being unjust, go up the chain of command until you reach someone who will do something. If someone gives you permission to do something, take it, even if theyâre not technically who you were supposed to ask.
The best version of you is the version where you are true to yourself, kind to others, and respectful of boundaries. No one else is you, and thatâs what other people find interesting about you!
Hey all!
So I use mobile almost exclusively, and in true Tumblr style, it isnât showing me any asks that people send me. So if you have a question, youâll have to message me (Iâm hoping I still get those).
I realize that this means that being anonymous isnât exactly an option, so sorry about that! If you really want to be anonymous, you might be able to send messages from sideblogs, so you could create a throwaway sideblog to send messages with, though I know thatâs obviously not the easiest thing.
If you want your âaskâ that you message me to be published on this blog because you think it might be a question other people have as well (or information other people might want to know), just let me know when you send me your message, and I can post it on my blog. If you want it posted with credit to you, I will tag you in the post, and if you would like it to be anonymous, I will state that itâs from an anonymous person. If you donât specify in your initial message, Iâll ask whether or not you want it posted and with credit or not, so donât worry about having to remember all of that.
Also, for those asking me to boost their donation posts, I havenât been ignoring you, I just saw the asks that were sent months and months ago (thanks tumblr/s), but I would like to ask that unless I know you/the creator of the post, please donât ask me to reblog or boost a donation post. I hate to assume the worst of people, but I have no way of knowing if the post is a scam or not without spending more time and energy than I have to figure that out, and in the interest of protecting well-meaning followers, I wonât be reblogging donation posts unless I can verify their legitimacy. Iâm very sorry, and if you do need financial help, I hope you can find it, but I wonât be reblogging your post.

Ok so, I was going through new followers and blocking all the unsavory and nsfw folks, like you do, and another type of blog I block are those ad blogs, where itâs just entirely for a product and theyâre only following me as advertisement. Theyâre not going to care if I say donât follow me, so I just donât, and itâs pretty rare anyway.
But this one blog that I decided to block wasnât an ad blog. It was a stock trading blog where whoever ran it had a job as a stocks trader or however that works, and just. reblogged memes about their job trading stocks??
I didnât realize that was even a side of tumblr that existed! And youâre probably wondering, âPlanty, that doesnât fall under your DNI! Whyâd you block them?â
I didnât realize that I might have to specify this here, but Iâm very anti-capitalist. Capitalism=bad, here at Disobey Binary. So I blocked the random blog who really enjoyed capitalism, because thatâs not who this blog is for. Also, just. Why??
I figured I might as well share it with you all! Because on tumblr, you expect all sorts of stuff that mainstream society deems âweirdâ. But you donât expect stock trading.
Hi!! Iâm quite bored and really do want to talk to you, so hereâs some questions for you to answer, and some questions for me! You can do one, the other, both, all of the questions, only one or two, whatever you want!
Questions for you to answer:
1) who are you? (Can be your name, a general description of you (ex: a wonderful enby), or something else! It just has to answer the question)
2) whatâs something about you that you think is pretty cool?
3) whatâs something you really enjoy?
4) where would you hide a cherished object if you could hide it anywhere (even if itâs against the laws of physics or something)
5) howâre you?
Questions for me to answer:
This ask game!
